The Waking Dead

See, Críostóir, you obvi spoke too soon. Not about zombie zombies at all. It was all based on real life zombies.

Though overall I did like the story, acting, direction (the royal storyline always seems to get that much extra care), the mysterious 'Baron' character's volga was a little disappointing: he's basically just an eee-ville pufferfish. That's not threatening enough. Voodoo icon deserved better.

Native Son, yeah, except for having the zombie drug be an excretion of a wesen,** rather than a concoction from herbs and bufo toad.

And yeah, the Baron's* woge** was pretty stupid-looking.

I must say, though, it's the whole trope of shambling pseudo-dead people that I'm sick of seeing on TV. Don't really care if they're just drugged, real dead people, controlled by evoll aliens, or what have you.

* way to insult the deities of a living religion, asshole writers
** German-sounding words, with only slightly wacky spellings that I'm getting from the captions.

Is that how it's spelt? Damn. I so wanted to get it right. Oops.

Still on The Waking Dead...

I have to say I did like the whole Juliette woge reveal scene. It was her first in I don't know how long that didn't make me want to retch all over my TV screen.

Though if I had a complaint, and I do, it'd be that I think the Eisbiber could maybe stand to tone it down a little. (Just a smidge.)

He is such a schinken.

I cheated. I watched with the captions on.

I find that's the best way to watch TV.

I hate to do this, but...isn't that show called The Walking dead?

I was even wondering why I wrote that. And then I remembered it was the actual title of that particular episode. You were absolutely right in that the show was just jumping on the zombie-craze bandwagon. And I don't know exactly why, but I do still forgive it. :)

Yay! Renard is dead!

And by the way, he left me five million dollars, but I can only get it out of Nigeria if a BELOVED AMERICAN PARTENR will let me use his bank account to transfer it in. If you will do this IN THE NAME OF JESUS CRHIST I will love you forever and let you keep half.

No?

Well, Renard also left me this bridge in New York. Wanna buy it?

No?

Yet you believe Renard is dead. SMH.

OMG. What's your asking? Wait a minute... Is this a real bridge or just a piccy of a bridge?

The actual bridge, of course! The owners are in fiscal disarray and have to sell. Isn't it beautiful? You can charge whatever tolls you want.

Also, call this 419 number to get $millioins depostited in your acoouncts! (You do get it, right?)

this is a SCAM doont give anyone your account number

OK. *sigh* I guess I have to spell it out.

I don't think Eric Renard (the Captain's brother) is actually dead. James Frain, who plays him, has not been killed in a car accident or anything, and short of that they would have shown us the crash, or his dead body, or something, if he were really dead.

What did we get instead? News footage saying he was killed in a crash, with a long shot of a burning car, and a bunch of people saying it's done, we killed him, he's dead.

Yeah, right.

It's a SCAM. Probably one perpetrated by Eric, who has clearly (and it's gotten clearer these last few eps) infiltrated the networks allied to Captain Renard.

SO, to make that point, I said "if you believe this" and pointed to several things that are well known to be scams. Selling the Brooklyn Bridge is the most time-honored one:
Wikipedia said:
References to "selling the Brooklyn Bridge" abound in American culture, sometimes as examples of rural gullibility but more often in connection with an idea that strains credulity. For example, "If you believe that, I've got a bridge to sell you." George C. Parker and William McCloundy are two early 20th-century con-men who had (allegedly) successfully perpetrated this scam on unwitting tourists.[61] The 1949 Bugs Bunny cartoon Bowery Bugs is a joking reference to Bugs "selling" a story of the Brooklyn Bridge to a naïve tourist.

The 419 scams are also well known. (BTW, the misspellings and bad grammar are deliberate in the real scam emails: they're designed to weed out the not-completely-gullible. I imitated them in my posts.)

So no, don't give your bank account number to someone who emails you. Don't call the 419 Area Code, ever. If you go to New York, don't buy a bridge from anyone, no matter how honest they seem.

And don't believe that Eric Renard is dead, until they show us his body...and given that this is Grimm, perhaps not then!

Dumbest Grimm ever. Krampus, my foot.

Also, apparently it's a rule that cute men other than the star must die on Grimm (referring to part 1).

yay I know it was good
cant wait till Friday

The best thing that can happen to this show is to get rid of Grimm's girlfriend -- She is a total bore! Adds absolutely NOTHING to the premise of the show

i disagree, i think they realised that and they are begining to spice up her character

I wouldn't have checked out the show if not for this thread, so thank you all for that.
However, I am having issues with the cardboard sleeve packaging of the DVD box set.

A lot of the episodes on the discs don't play properly or not at all. I stopped watching past disc 3, disc 1, and 2 have similar stutter issues. At this point I am quitting here and taking back the set to the store, very disappointed.
Do the other seasons have similar issues?
Do the Blu-ray sets have a similar problem?
