Milk in a fucking bag? that must have been a piggy american idea.

If you went to public school in the States, then you probably had bagged milk. Remember those stainless steel things with the big heavy handles? I sure do.

I haven't noticed any price increases, but I don't buy milk, meat or coffee so I quess that explains it. Well actually come to think of it, citrus prices do seem to be high ($1 for a sad-looking grapefruit), but usually they come down in the winter.

^ nope i did not attend any school in the states. however i have seen lots of american shit cos my country is trying very hard to be like america.

milk in a bag i aint seen that yet

A lot of the basic things I buy have gone up a lot.

In the last two years.

Soy milk: $1.00 to $1.50

A certain canned cat food: $ .50 to $ .70

Refried beans: $1.00 to $1.39

Many other examples....

The cheapest soy milk I can find here is: $1.84 for 32 oz. Ironically, it's an organic one. The store's house brand but still.

.

We had small 8 oz cartons (paper/wax?) which were almost always impossible to open.

Here's one I don't get -- local chain store this morning, milk:

local brand $2.89/gallon
over-the-hill brand $2.59/gallon
store brand $3.29/gallon

Isn't a store brand supposed to be cheaper???

Cheap Milk locally is 1.99-2.39 a gallon which is about $0.63 per liter. There are more expensive brands for 3.19-4.99 a gallon, but we sell $5 a gallon organic milk at my work which is about $1.32 a liter.

Bread is 3/$5 or $1.66
so your lookin to spend $4 american/canadian, which is about 2.94 euro.

gas is 2.88 a gallon where i live, which is $0.78 per liter.

You are kidding -- RIGHT???

I travel ALL OVER the country and WASHINGTON State is the MOST EXPENSIVE place to buy groceries -- even more than California...

And I'm in Seattle twice a month -- I've gotten used to the SUPER HIGH prices up there and have a HARD TIME believing the prices you've listed...

WHERE DO YOU SHOP???

:):):)

Everything is getting more expensive - It's depressing as hell..
1 pound of Butter at ALDI's used to be $1.99 every day - then it crept up to $2.19 - today it was $2.49 - the store brand at the supermarket was as low as $2.49 a short time ago - now it's $3.49.
I can still get 1/2 gallon of 2% milk for $2.49 about.
Bread? out of sight - Multigrain bread made close by - is up to $3.99 loaf - i think it's a bit over 1 pound.
Weight Watchers - very small slices -- 1 pound - $3.99 !!
Low sodium turkey breast - today - $9.49 a pound.
The kids at work eat a can of Walmart Spaghetti-O's for lunch - the whole can - which is around 2,000 mgs of SODIUM for the one meal !! it costs about $1.00 -- so they think they're saving money-
I see mothers every day at Walmart filling their cart with canned spaghetti-O's and RAMIN noodles - so you know the kids are getting stuffed with nothing but SODIUM laden crap every day !! there's no end to it.
\
I got what i thought was gonna be a healthy Chicken Salad at Wendy's and then I found the nutritional information on the wall-- that fucking sala (around $6.00) is around 1,500 mg. of sodium -- why are they allowed to put that crap on the market?

I bought some mascarpone cheese for a recipe. 8 ounces $6. Next time if I make if for myself I will use a cheaper way which is to make it out of cream cheese, whipping cream and sour cream. If I make it for a party I will buy the good stuff, which is even hard to find.

No wonder Tiramisu is so expensive premade. I bought a piece once which was around 10 ounces and it cost $6.

To make matters worse the egg whites did not whip, instead I substituted (more) whipped heavy cream which the recipe called for and some Cool Whip I had in the fridge.

I couldn't find any pasteurized eggs anywhere. I read online that if you use raw eggs in a recipe that those are the ones to use, but no one sells them that I know of.

I did buy a fool proof espresso maker. (!):gogirl:

Oh - and i forgot -- to mention

I used to buy ground Bison for a lower fat alternative to ground beef - it was $4.99 a pound - a few months ago it went to $5.99 a pound - and a few weeks ago it was $7.99 a pound.
I asked the meat manager WHY it had gone up so high and he said - we have no idea !! He said he used to sell 2-3 boxes a week - now one box is on the shelf for over a week - so clearly-- people are not going to pay $7.99 a pound for ground anything -
I can get a good steak for less !!
