Guess Who's Mrs Lovett in Sweeney Movie?

Unsurprisingly Helena Bonham Carter (aka Tim Burton's other half) has been cast as Mrs Lovett opposite Johnny Depp in Sweeney Todd.

I'm so tired of seeing her in every single tim burton movie. But good news is mr. pirelli will be played by Borat.

Yes, it's a film of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd.

Sacha Baron Cohen is in talks to play Signor Pirelli.

It's going to be an unmitigated disaster. I love Johnny Depp, but he is completely unsuited to this role.

This movie sounds like a bad idea to me.

I just think it'll be unastounding...the musical isn't that interesting either, it's just a bit different mixing of genres.

Besides, I feel like Mrs. Lovett has to be rough and bubbly and beautiful enough to throw us when she signs up for cannibalism.

No, the cast will do the singing. From what I read Johnny Depp had to sing for Sondheim before he would approve Depp for the role. I would guess Sondheim will approve all other casting.

It's typical of Burton. When he was dating Lisa Marie, she was in all his films of the time: Ed Wood, Mars Attacks, Sleepy Hollow. Then he meets Helena in Planet of the Apes, and she's been in Big Fish, Charlie and the Chocolate Facotry, Corpse Bride, and now Sweeny Todd.

Although I didn't see her I prefer Patti LuPone's performance on the new Broadway cast recording.

I'm not too sure about this movie, but I can't wait to see her as Bellatrix Lestrange in next summer's Harry Potter & The Order of the Phoenix-I'm sure her creepiness will suit the role perfectly (and she doesn't have to sing in that movie LOL).

By the way, what happened to "Ripley's Believe It Or Not" ????? It was supposed to be Tim Burton's next movie project starring Jim Carrey. I thought that would have been a great movie to see. I'm sad production got stalled for that one......

Apparently the cost of the movie was getting out of hand so they dropped it and decided to go with Sweeney Todd instead.

That sucks. Didn't Jim Carrey want $20 million plus for it??? How unfortunate. A Burton/Carrey movie would have been awesome to see. I loved Lemony Snicket and that was Burton-ish......

Jim Carry would've have been so wrong for Sweeny Todd. Will this be live or animation? Was LuPone offered Mrs. Lovett? I'm just full of questions about this project...

Jim Carrey was never up for Sweeney Todd. The film will be live. I don't know if LuPone was offered Mrs Lovett but probably not as she was probably considered too old to play opposite Johnny Depp.
