Guilty Pleasures -- The Confession Thread

I have not had it in a while because I try to stay away from the sweets.

Pepperoni is a proven recipe for the excessive cravings of many mammals: fat, salt, and protein.

Pepperoni is also a cured meat, and cured meats have nitrites, a known carcinogen. I love pepperoni, and also bacon. If there is one food we should eliminate from our diets, bacon is it. It is basically saturated fat, salt, protein, and nitrites. But oh, it tastes so good! I have a hypothesis as to why it seems that humans have a taste for cured meats with nitrites, even though it is bad for us. I suspect that as our hominid ancestors learned to cook food, a genetic predisposition for nitrites developed. Meats cooked over fire would have nitrites in them. Cooking food, especially meats, would kill a whole host of disease organisms, and in the language of evolutionary biology, those with a preference for cooked food would have a selective advantage over those who didn't.

For me I like fast food maybe like Burger King, McDonald's and yes KFC is good too

I like too many snacks and thing that are generally bad for me the key is to eat them in MODERATION however my bear physique would suggest that I do otherwise! But I'm not eating these things all the time it's a constant stream or steroids for asthma. Truthfully I'd rather have a salad loaded with pan seared chicken (you know when it gets golden brown and really crispy but not fried) and veggies.

I love that song. Not crazy about his visuals as he utters them, but I prefer music without the vids anyway.

Thanks for sharing.

Words are cool.

Gas station Nachos. Break open that bag, put it under that Cheese and Meat Sauce, pump as much of both on your chips. Then pile on those jalapenos. Ain't nothin' better.

It's all context. At home, nothing tempts me. For that matter, at home there's nothing around to tempt me. But I have many happy memories of sitting in a cafe' in one or another Italian city, sipping a Negroni or an Aperol Spritz, eating potato chips, and watching the world go by, all the while thinking I should lay off the chips, let alone the liquor. My partner is tempted by neither, and will sit contentedly sipping an acqua minerale with a slice of lemon.

A few of the Brits on here will get this reference .... during lockdown we have all been watching lots of daytime TV. I discovered a show over here called Salvage Hunters: The Restorers . Alex Webster somehow does it for me. I have this recurring dream that he is stripped down and has a thick, throbbing cut cock. He is so not my type but ..... *|*

Sizzling Rice Soup and Lemon Chicken at my favorite Chinese Restaurant

Steamed/Sauteed Calamari/Squid with the tentacles and LOTS of garlic

Artichoke Hearts - fried is good w/mayo but raw is also good - w/mayo

I only had these twice (in one day) but this booth was set up in Sacramento that had what they called Georgia Onion Rings and they were HUGE - like monster sized onions - and they had a beer batter - OMG I think I had an orgasm. They ruined all other onion rings for me ever since.

BITCH!! That sounds great haven't had those in 15 years!!! One of my favorite places to get Nachos is actually Six Flags Great America! They load up a spinach tortilla with chips cheese sour cream and pico de gallo and occasionally if a location in the park has them pickled jalapenos they are big enough to split for lunch 2 ways if you have kids who don't eat much maybe even 3 or 4 ways and for $16.00 they'd better be!!

Try $15.75 profit!!

I remember one of the movie theaters who was struggling after the 08' crash had a deal that if you paid $20 for a bucket in January you could refill it up for $.50 every time you came to the movies all throughout the year. The only catch was that you had to buy a new bucket every January. Plus they had $4.99 matinee's everyday, lots of people took advantage! Needless to say they stopped the promotion after a couple of years!

The only downside is that by December the bucket was usually really gross inside from all the butter and oil. Generally the weren't the most "manly" bucket designs either. Probably they thought that kids and tweens were going to take advantage, not grown ass men! :rotflmao:

Lightly salted ripple potato chips.

We have had them for the first time in months this week.

I'm about to make that broccoli casserole that has Cheez Nips in it. I think I'm going to leave the top layer off until each serving is microwaved in the coming week, as I hate gratin once it turns soggy.

I've been craving green food like crazy this week. No idea why.

... clip ... 28 year old dark rum.

Barbancourt Rum from Haiti. I discovered Barbancourt 17 years ago on my first Haiti mission.
I'm having some now as I write this, but no guilt !
It is one of the world's finest rums

Wikipedia: "Barbancourt is a rum produced and bottled in Haiti by Société du Rhum Barbancourt. The company is one of Haiti's oldest, and its rum is one of the country's most famous exports, widely regarded as among the finest rums in the world."
