yeah should be good. Metallica have such a range of amazing material, they are good musicians.

Not like Guitar Hero Aerosmith. a mediocre band with less than a hand full of recognizable songs. and steven tyler is fucking foul.

So it'll run from finger numbingly hard early material to yawn inducing chord progression of new. Woo.

ugh .. i am not buying anything by metallica.

Any idea if the tracks will be available to download or is it a standalone disc? And will there be some sort of key to allow you to import them to the HDD like Rock Band?

If it's standalone, I'll pass...

This is what bugs me about a bit about Rockband, Guitar Hero and Singstar. They keep releasing new discs instead of offering all the tracks through the online stores. Singstar does offer some of the disc based songs online but if not, it means swapping discs all the time which is a pain. One of the things Sony crowed about with Singstar was the ability to add new songs through the Singstore. Then they go and release Singstar 2 and 3 on disc. Which I can understand to a degree if you don't go online but it's a bit of a cheek for the rest of us. You always end up with crap songs that nobody wants to have a go at.

They really ought to ditch physical media altogether for this sort of content. I wonder if they'll ever have the balls to do that?

Disc swapping is a bit of a hassle but i don't see it as a deal breaker. Actually Rock Band has come closer to what you mean... Rock Band 2 owners can transfer all the RB1 songs to it paying a small transfer fee or something (ps3 and 360 only), and all RB DLC is compatible with both games... so that might be what you are looking for.

It's rather trickier to expect a single platform when it comes to videogame consoles... probably if these games weren't attached to game systems and were the equivalent of, lets say, a karaoke machine, this wouldn't be happening.

I'm not really a Metallica fan, but I am getting this game for sure.

Metallica themselves said that due to their earlier stuff being harder, you don't actually play as them at the beginning... because then people would expect to follow Metallica's work chronologically... instead you will play as a Metallica tribute band or something, allowing to mix up things and re-arrange songs based on difficulty... and later on you can unlock them or something.

I like Aerosmith kinda but I agree that a whole game based on them was a bad idea... and now that GH has gone full band their game seems obsolete now.

Well that's asking a bit too much don't ya think, I mean they make the game after all. It's not like Rock Band is the new iTunes... though prolly over the time it could totally be.

Good luck playing Dyers Eve on drums with a single bass drum pedal :D

Remember that the song choice on these games is not just about preferences, but also about balancing the difficulty of the game, and choosing songs that would work on this type of game. I like the idea of using DLC to expand the current experience of the game to add more music that you enjoy, but I don't really feel DLC should be the focus... there should be a proper balance between sequels and DLC offering imo.

I GOT THIS GAME TODAY.

It's so awesome. If you buy it at best buy you can get a wireless guitar controller for 10 dollars.

It's for any console.

Of course I went with 360. And got the game for 360. Wii internet is too laggy. Also the friend codes are a pain in the ass.

But anyways. This game is so awesome. And I love the new wireless guitar. Any songs you play in "quickplay" can give you money for career mode. The stringy note thing is in this too. And of course any instruments can be used.

The introduction is alot different then past GH games as well. And the character customization is here too. It's really detailed :O

Also when you beat a song in career mode. You unlock something called "Song Extras"

One tells you the history and facts about the song while it plays. Pretty informative and interesting. Another option gives you the information like album and etc. You can even view the lyrics.

But the game is pretty fun. And it's fun to play online too.

Someone kicked my ass at "Nothing Else Matters". But I won, "Toxicity" -System of a Down.

This also has that track custimization thing from GHWT.

Anyways. This game is tons of fun and has a great song list because it's well..metallica. The other artists in the game are good too.

Oh and in Extras you can view some concert footage of metallica as well as some footage of how their songs got into the game. Pretty interesting. Some wierd suit thingy that monitors their movement I guess.

I think James Hetfield (today)
