Gunman kills 3, injures 11 at gay club in Tel Aviv

Why is there so little attention being paid to this thread?

Maybe people are just overrun by tragedy in the world. Maybe people don't care.

i noticed some posts removed from this thread before i could read the replies.

There is so much antagonism against Jews and the Israelis in the world, and on JUB, that I'm not surprised to see so little sympathy and comments posted here.

For me, I will say this is awful. And at a youth center...

I hope they get the guy who did this.

"While the killer's motives are not yet clear, members of Tel Aviv's homosexual community expressed certainty that his target was not selected at random. The center at which the attack took place served primarily teenagers, they said, many of whom have not yet revealed their sexual orientation to their families. Due to the sensitive nature of its work, the center was discreet, and only someone familiar with the location could have carried out the attack, they said."

The level of non-compassion expressed in your post is really, really frightening and perverse.

Three kids were killed at a gay youth center, and that is your response?

I'm sorry, man...but that's sick if you can't separate whatever feelings you have about Israel from the heinous crime that was committed.

It's probably a good thing you didn't read my removed post.

I posted my own thread.

It is truly sad what happened here, and it is sad that this is still happening in the world.

Maybe because the world doesn't revolve around Israel.

Just a thought.
If this happened to a group of black teens, you'd be up in arms by now.

The lack of compassion in this thread is a great example of why World Peace is still a laughable term.

Again, I can't add much more than what has been said. It trully is tragic, but apparently, only two people have been killed, it's been confirmed today. So, that's good for one more life. But we're fortunate this doesn't happen as much as it could.

Of course, a few years ago, there was a hatchet attack at a gay club in New Bedford, herein Massachusetts. So, we must stay vigilant. Gays and humans around the world must be united in compassion.
Just goes to show, all must be united in this fight agaisnt homophobia.

This wasn't an anti-Israeli attack. This was an anti-gay attack.

If you dismiss this because it happened in Tel Aviv when you wouldn't if it happened in London or New York or Sydney, you are just a bigot. No matter what you think of Israel (and I'm far from a defender of that nation's policies), a bunch of gay teenagers have little control over policy. If you think it's OK to murder innocent kids because of their parents' behavior or because of their race or religion, I suggest you join the KKK.

That goes particularly for you, NeoSlacker. You're no better (not one whit better) than the racists you so despise.

Apollo, you are so right, and that peace has to begin within each of us as an individual.

"Peace is a fractal. I say this because there cannot be world peace unless there is peace within each of the nations of the world; and for that to occur there must be peace within each community of each nation; and for peace to exist in each community there must be peace within each family; and for there to be peace within a family there must be peace within each person.

"So if you truly wish for world peace, here's a way to begin: work to bring peace to your own heart. It's not sufficient of itself, but it is essential."

We have to have peace within our own hearts first before we can truly share it with the Nations and the entire world, and that peace that is within us begins with God. and that is where much of the problems comes from, because without God, there can be no real lasting peace even within ourselves. including myself, mind you.

If God (whatever you personally mean by that) is your path to inner peace, by all means embrace that. But please be careful of overgeneralizing. Some of the most inwardly-peaceful people I know have no relationship with anyone or -thing called "God."

A very sad occurance. Community centres like these are meant as a safe haven for gay youngsters and it's sad to think that this might make it harder for people to get some support or meet like minded people...

Disgusting individual that did this, that's for sure.
And still at large last time I checked...

As to whether he's muslim or ultra-orthodox (or conceivably something else) I can only speculate. But there's already been at least one incident where an ultra-orthodox guy went nuts and started stabbing people at a gay pride parade. And muslim terrorists, I usually associate with suicide bombings.

... sorry, didn't mean to pull this thread back on-topic...

Incidentally, Israel is one of the countries that allows gay people to serve openly in the army. So if any Americans are feeling smug about how backward Israelis are...

^^^ And so it begins. The Selective Outrage and The Self Righteous Hyperbole that follows it!

People all over the world are slained because of their Race or Sexuality.
but you'll probably don't care!
Not that you've been setting any better example for the people you're calling out. You're certainly not causing the problem, but you're not moving anyone to change. You complain about selective concern based on race and ethnicity in the gay community and then advocate for its continuation. So how exactly are you helping the cause that you bring up time and time again?
