  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Guys (and gals), it's been an absolute pleasure.

Interestingly enough no one wants to talk about it, but if you put the pieces together along with the links, it seems they found kiddie porn in his computer. But this is also a person who as per their blog quote by rareboy seemed hell bent on self-destruction, which I have nothing against. Self-destruction is fun. BUT, when self-destruction means getting intoxicated in a vehicle where others are at risk, it's selfish. And given the kiddie porn bit I'm not sure where all the sympathy is coming from. Given how this board isn't too keen on sympathy. But hey...

Not quite, from what I've gathered.

Basically, a friend gave him a CD containing all of this stuff. He didn't realise what was on it, and therefore had a look. Now, he didn't destroy it or hand it over to the police, instead, out of (probably) morbid curiosity, keeping it.

He mentioned it to a 'friend', and said 'friend', rather than advising him to hand it straight to police, apparently went to the police, told them Joe had it, and added a claim of rape, if my memory serves me correctly.

I can't honestly believe, though, that under these circumstances that the prospective punishment is so bad. Is there no way you could get a second opinion, Joe?

Another time Joe was in legal trouble he came on here looking for sympathy for a drunk driving conviction that he basically got out of.

And he got that sympathy.

Now he's collecting sympathy for having kiddie porn in his possession.

I think Joe's a victimizer who manipulates people into comforting him as a victim.

Drunk driving and child porn, and you people are putting your arms around him, comforting him.

Really amazing how people can be manipulated if the messenger delivers bullshit in a pleasing package.

People like Joe, their lives are a shambles for a reason: they make bad choices, and bad choices ultimately end up with bad consequences.

IF that is true ](*,)

The CD would have been thrown into a fire asap... And I would have most likely cussed-out the guy who gave me the CD and ended whatever relationship we had.

End of story...

I told Joe at the time that I had a problem with him being even slightly curious about viewing that porn. I tend to still think that was completely wrong. The allegations of rape were subsequently dropped I do believe so that's not really what the issue is here. It's just the images on his computer. I tend to agree with santaCbear on this also. The cd should have been thrown out, burned and actually the best possible thing he should have done was hand it into the police.

There are more innocent people involved here than Joe. The children on the disk presumably didn't get a choice in whether or not they get to quash someone's curiosity with the images of their abuse. I'm sorry but I think I take back my well wishes having thought more deeply about this.

SantaCBear, I never thought the day would come but... I TOTALLY AGREE WITH THIS 100%. It's simple logic. Not only that, but I WOULD CONTACT the police in the first place. Kiddie porn is NOT something that people should be taking lightly. Inaction propagates further child abuse, which above all things should be obliterated in all societies. And just because we 'like' someone for whatever reason is no reason to turn a blind eye.

Very, very true. Others who have come here with other stories which were much more less than this have received sarcasm and cold shoulders on this site here. So now, because this guy is one of the more popular posters, etc his issues which involve child abuse and the potential killing of another life via self-indulgence should somehow deserve so much attention and sympathy?

I'm baffled.

JLY appears to fall into that favored category of the "easily forgiven". There are JUBbers who, if they went to jail for not paying a parking ticket they forgot about, would be told, "Well, you should've paid the ticket." (I may be one of them.) JLY obviously doesn't fall into this category. He's gained a fair number of adherents here on JUB over his time here, and so is going to have people in his corner.

>>>People like Joe, their lives are a shambles for a reason: they make bad choices, and bad choices ultimately end up with bad consequences.

Not necessarily. Some people in this group have a knack for always - ALWAYS - escaping the swinging blade.

Just like that. Even if it involves the playing with other's lives. Huh. Interesting. Well I guess this puts an end to any further argument. I apologize with having interrupted this thread, it's obviously not my place. Carry on with the pity party for JLY.

^^ Not sure I would've went to the police... Just dont trust them, they would want to invade MY privacy because that is the way 'they' are.

Matthew 7 (King James Version)

1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.

2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

Don't tell me you never make mistakes, NickCole.

This isn't about me.

I didn't come on culling sympathy and comfort for having been convicted of drunk driving and possession of child porn.

If you like to see joeslifeyork's life ruined, you can cross your arms and sit back with glee.

Nothing I wrote remotely says I'd like to see Joe's life ruined, and that's a nasty thing for you to suggest about me. But that's exactly what people with Joe's manipulative personality accomplish as well. Manipulating people into such an intense loyalty to protect them that they go after anyone who questions them.

If joe didn't make that porn, abuse those kinds, or rape that guy, he doesn't belong in jail.

Yea. Manipulators and their defenders need lots of ifs. What we know for sure and actual facts are problematic.

Most important thing we know for sure is a court of law heard all the evidence, including his defense, and convicted him of drunk driving and possession of child porn. But rather than place value in the decision of an impartial court of law, you hitch your wagon to a guy who makes bad choices and has an obvious motivation to lie or at least skew the facts to garner sympathy for himself.

Child abuse in any form (including kiddy porn) simple is not acceptable and offenders should be dealt with.

We really do not have all the details on this case, and really we have no business judging the OP.

As fas as drinking and driving....I have zero...zilch.. NO tolerance....I lost my twin brother to a drunk driver, and personally drunk drivers should be locked for life..
my opinion, because of my experience.

I hold no ill will to Joe... it's time like these, that we must rely on the justice system to see that justice is served...

Joe... you made some really poor choices.... I'm sure your aware of that. You being in possession of that CD put you in a really bad situation...

I do wish you a fair and accurate presentation of both sides...

What's with all the sympathy?

Joe contributed to the abuse of children. And he's endangered the reputation of this website by bringing his problems here. Thanks for enforcing the stereotype that all homosexuals are pedophiles.

Really?

I wonder.

Read what Joe writes about his life. He's miserable. He's lonely. He cries himself to sleep all the time.

And although in his 20s he's able to feel bigger and empowered by responses like those in this thread, I bet he has, and will continue to have, a continuing string of uncomfortable, unsatisfying broken intimate relationships. He will suffer deeper and longer bouts of depression as the years, and losses, mount.

That seems like a pretty sharp blade to me.

I wonder what happened to Joe's accuser. The person accused Joe falsely of rape, but from what I gather that charge was dropped since there was no evidence to show it. It may even come up in court as circumstances leading up to Joe being charged with posession of illegal material. Whatever happens, he did cooperate from the outset. I hope his accuser gets some sort of punishment for making malicious accusations about someone...

As for t

now this is a post i can be behind 100%......

What Joe did was clearly wrong and he will have to face the consequences. I don't understand it, but I hope this is the wake up call he needs to get his life on the right path. He's still young and can have a bright future. Joe, please seek out some counseling to help you deal with the various issues in your life. I wish you the best of luck in the future.

why the hell does anyone feel sorry for him. Everytime an image of those kids gets out, they're being violated all over again. Joe kept a cd of this stuff. He may be young but the kids that were abused were even younger. Where's the sympathy for the childhood they lost?

this is a sad day for the children who were sexually exploited and now have to endure the physical and emotional trauma from such an event. no judgment and no sympathy from me.

One sees that a few posts have just vanished. Like magic, almost.

One can only hope that JLY will receive some much needed psychological analysis and counselling while serving at her majesty's pleasure.

and it`s so easy to get into trouble.

I would disagree. While it may demonstrate intellectual or moral torpor to slide into a pattern of destructive behaviour, I think you'd find that it actually takes a lot of effort by most people to commit the acts that finally do the damage. Only psychopaths seem to find all of it effortless.
