It got down to 2ºC (35ºF) last night. When I woke up this morning, it was 16ºC (60ºF). A bit too brr for comfort. I changed my bedsheets today as well. Off with the cotton and on with the flannelette.

Cotton sheets in those temperatures are okay until you move. I'm sure there are people here who know what I'm talking about. ..|

You're a wuss! Kidding! I turned mine on too! In college we left the heat off to save money. Now that I have my own house and a decent job, I use my heat when I'm cold. I don't really get that cold, but it was 59 last night, so I bumped the heat up to 66.

We had a strange little cold snap at the beginning of September and the furnace came on then for a few days. Since the middle of September though, it has rocketed back up to the high 20's and it hasn't come on at all. Such is weather I suppose.

PS. I like flannel even in the summer - I ditch the duvet but keep the warm sheets...

in su lay shun.

LOL

That, and a fireplace, and I'm singing True North Strong and Free forever!

I unfortunately live (have for three years) in an apartment building that will NOT turn on the heat till the temperature has fallen below 50 degrees consistently for one week. I've been told the same thing by both the former, and current, landlords. "It's just the way it's set up"..bullshit. So, when the fall temps go from 60 degrees one day, to 30 degrees the next two, then back up,......no heat. Fall is the worst. But by mid winter, I have to open up my windows so i do not roast, lol. :)

Freeze warning here tonight and tomorrow. Supposed to 29f here tonight.

I need to start getting pellets for the stove.

We had a frost warning in Memphis, TN. last night. I haven't turned on the heat yet, but I did add a couple of blankets to the bed. The temperature has been in the mid-30's (1-3ºC) the last few nights. We went straight from summer to winter!

There's a certain smell I love.

It's the smell of the furnace when it's first turned on for the season. There's nothing else quite like it -- that kinda musty aroma of slightly singed dust and air moving through ducts that haven't been exercised for months.

Why do I love that smell?

It means it's cold outside, probably gray and damp too. It means that, soon, my shivering body will be comforted by warmth and coziness, and that I'm being looked after. It reminds me of being a young boy and sitting on the hot air register on cold mornings, reading my books and toasting my bum.

It's wonderful. (*8*)

Still warm in south Florida. But I was near the beach at around 9 PM and there was a cold breeze coming through. I was surprised. I hate the cold.

I spoke to my father in NU and he's had to run the heat for the last two days. Right now I have the central AC running. It's after midnight and 90 F.

There are parts of Florida where it got down to 45 F last night, near Pensacola.

Okay, where is NU to you? To me it is Nunavut, and I'm pretty sure if your dad was in Nunavut he would have needed his furnace on since at least mid august.

BTW, do you need a furnace in south Florida for cold days?

I meant NJ New Jersey.#-o

No. My central AC works as central heat, but I never use it. I don't think most people have heat, it's not really needed much.

Last year I had to use a space heater at night for two nights. It got down close to freezing, maybe around 35F. During the day it usually will warm up at least 20 degrees more during that cold blast.

We're expecting a max of 30 deg C today, and it's still Spring!!!

Where the fuck is my fall? :grrr:

It went from mid 90's to 40's in a week?

Ugh, I guess it's time to break out the hoodies... blah.

Yeah, cold out here too, I coould see my breath this morning. I'm always in denial, the windows are still open but I have a down comforter with a flannel cover, there's something really nice about the contrast, crispness and toastiness, but when I get out of the shower in the freezing dark I question, well, nearly everything.
