to go to church for xmas today.

I was like yeah yeah and hung up.

Like I'm going to go to support the single largest anti-gay organization on the planet.

Unlike gay "christians", I don't self-hate. I don't go to these weekly rallies so I can listen to a raving lunatic to make me hate myself.

That's okay, you do plenty of self-hating without being religious. Not like the church would make you any better or worse.

(to wit, you could have simply stated you don't go to church... instead, you reacted like I expect you to react - like a superior asshole)

My boyfriend is Catholic, hardly self hating. Nice thread to make on Christmas, though. ..|

But, it's baby Jesus day. The wafers should be much more tender . . . and mild.

I have been working in a Church (not for mind) for the past few months, and none of them give a shit about me being gay. They have about 4 branches of different Churches using the place, and I have met all the vicars and I am quite open about myself (they normally chat to me for up to an hour at a time say) and they really don't give a shit.

Some parts of the Christianity obviously don't like us, but I would say most don't really care. The idea that a religious out gay man was doing it because they hated themselves is clearly dumb.

Anyway - your Asian and have been going on about sticking to your Asian roots, yet your family want you to go to Church?

Athiest/non-church-going assholes are superior to religious assholes.

I hear ya---guess you can go to a progressive church or gay church if one is in your neighborhood----I'd avoid that church too---you know the expression--so many Christians so few lions.:p

its all well and good if you don't want to go to church or support religion, but in saying Christian gays are self hating, you're showing the exact same ignorance that some show towards us.

Try to look at it this way. A black person who desperately goes to kkk meets, desperately tries to get them to accept him, and desperately tells his black buddies that the kkk is a loving, accepting organization who loves black people. How would you describe such a black person? I can only think of "self-hating" as an adequate description.

Not a really good comparison by any means.

I used to love midnight mass at xmas.

Hell, i used to love being a catholic, mess.

Just because they went from "burn the gheys" to a more politically correct stance of "hate the sin, love the sinner" bullshit doesn't mean they actually love us.

The kkk used to raid and kill black people, yes? Nowadays, they have a more politically correct message of keeping the races separate the way god intended.

A number of years ago, I dated a young lad who was still in college. There was a kkk member that was going to give a presentation there. Some students protested. Some wanted to let him come and talk because of free speech. He eventually came and gave a talk. I went to it. Right off the bat, someone asked him if he was a racist. This kkk representative denied up and down that he was racist. He just wanted to keep the races separate, you see.

Just because a hate organization becomes more politically correct doesn't mean they hate us any less. They just realize society at large won't let them burn us the way they used to.

Political correctness doesn't change anyone's attitude. It just sugarcoats it.

And do you listen to your sister?
Guess not, you hung up on her.

Of course, I do. It doesn't mean I have to follow what she says. She is still absolutely convinced I'm just going through a "teenage phase". She occasionally talks to her priest for advice on me, and the priest always tells her I'll grow out of it by the power of christ. How many years have I been with the same man?

You have your mind made up, but not every religious person agrees or believes the hate mongering beliefs that other religious people try to push.
