Hairspray Is such a great movie! I just watched it again last night and it's classic. I think it was casted perfectly, John Travolta and Nikki Blonsky were perfect for the movie, and those two are such a great pair. Is anyone else with me on this one? Also I wonder what we will see her in next. That was her first movie wasn't it?

I loved it as well.....i'm watching the Critics Choice Awards right now...and they just won Best Ensemble Acting and Nikki won Best Young Actress. She's in a new Lifetime movie which is her first starring role since Hairspray...so I don't know what else she has after that.

This was one of my favourite films of last year. I saw it three time at the cinema and I got it on DVD for Christmas (The Shimmy and Sassy Special Edition). Nikki Blonsky was great and you should hear her singing I Can Wait which is in the bonus features of the DVD and special edition of the soundtrack (which has some great demos on it).

However I finally got to see the stage show in London back in November and it's even better than the movie (it's more like the original movie).

It was a good movie..Nikki Blonksi was great but I didnt like John Travolta. I saw Hairspray on Broadway in NYC in August.....it was fantastic.

But

Nothing beats the original movie (the non musical version) with Rikki Lake, Divine, Deborah Harry and Sonny Bono.

If you get a chance, rent the original - You wont be disappointed.

Cheers!

yeah the original and this movie are two totally different movies.....same basic premise...but two totally different movies.....Love both of them though

My mom got the DVD (Shake and Shimmy Edition) and we've watched it twice the day after christmas. I thought the soundtrack was really good, and enjoy most of the songs.

The film won Best Ensemble and Best Young Actress (Nikki Blonsky) at the S.A.G. Awards.

Finally saw it over the holidays. I've seen it like 6 times since. I really loved the move with all the first movie references and inside jokes. My song is Big Blond and Beautiful.

I'm so pleased, because it just came out on DVD in Australia today, so I bought it and have been having fun looking at all the special features. I really hope that the braodway show comes to Australia, because that's the only way I'll be able to see it. Hairspray is right up there with Wicked as one of my favourite musicals.

Not a day goes by that I don't listen to the soundtrack.

We saw the traveling Broadway production after the movie came out and we enjoyed it so much.

Haven't seen the newer one yet - don't know if I want to - but its in my Netflix queue. I really liked the original a lot, and though I thoroughly enjoyed the Broadway version, I'm not too sure about a film adaption of a Broadway adaption of the original.
