Half man, half tree

it's caused by a fungus and similar to elephantitius, i remember reading about it happening to a man in Africa some time ago.

why does it disturb you? it isn't as if you can get it by watching it or even touching him, particularly because he's in Indonesia.

You're such a sissy :-P

Yes, I saw a special on Discovery Channel. At that time, he didn't want to cut them off. DUH! WHAT ARE YOu MAD?

Now, he has had some of it removed.

It's nasty to look at but it doesn't disturb me. I've seen WAAAY more disturbing things on the internet.

I was so prepared for this to be a joke, but just wow. I really feel for the man.

Why isn't anyone thinking the obvious thing. These are clearly signs of mutants. Hasn't anyone read X-men?

Poor bastard - remember he's a human being like you or me, and with the same feelings, hopes and desires.

No - it seems to be a virus coupled with a lack of immune system response. Elephantiasis is a late stage lymphoedema caused by a blockage of the lymph vessels by a filarial parasitic worm: Wucheria Bancrofti, in fact.

And there are worse afflictions yet. Do a google image search on "Jose Mistre". Don't say I didn't warn you...

ditto....i've seen WAY more disturbing things in real life....38 years in health care ... i haven't seen it all, but most things don't disturb me emotionally any longer

the thing that disturbs me most is to see perfectly healthy people wasting their lives to (hard) drugs and senseless violence...

while others who would love to have healthy bodies struggle with disease or waste away in poverty

Ick... I did a google search for it. #-o That was very disturbing.

It's actually the wart virus.

He cut his knee or something as a child, something happened, he had low immune system, got the wart virus and it got massively out of control.

And I can honestly say, I agree, it is disturbing. It makes me feel a bit ill, but I do feel sorry for him.

This guy had a special on tv, i saw it a few months ago.

He reminds me of lord of the rings, those walking trees.

Wasn't there a 'tree' mutant working as a receptionist in one of the Xcorps offices during Morisson's run?

This was on TV here a few nights ago. I thought it was pretty upsetting, makes me feel really sorry for him.
