Halloween - Who's Seen It? (spoilers)

I havent seen it yet, but i think it probably would've been better if Zombie just decided to make a sequel to it, instead of remake if you ask me.

It was ok. It wasnt terrible nor was it extremely well. For me it was toooo long. Alot could have been took out. I fell asleep during the middle where no real action was. The storyline was good but it just didnt do anything for me but scare me a lil. I prolly wont buy. Its one of them movies you see once and say you seen it.

Horrible Camerawork
Vulgarity for the sake of Vulgarity
Little to no atmosphere
Pacing wasn't the best.

I saw it and didn't like it because of it's ending. If you happen to... er uh... stumble upon the workprint version of the movie, you'll see that the alternate ending is much better than the one shown in theaters.

Edit: Oh uh, that and too many tits, even for a horror movie. Sheesh.

I disagree profusely. I'm not going to get into whether it's good or not but SAW is a live franchise. It's fresher, newer, and it's core fanbase is still in the key demographic. This is the what 8th or 9th in the Halloween franchise and it's not even a new movie it's a remake... it would get it's ass kicked bigtime

How could you say the Saw movies are fresh and newer? The next one is PART FOUR! Not even the Scream movies had a part four. This franchise turned stale with part 2, and part 3 was just desperate and depressing.

I'm going to stand by my theory on why these 'torture porn' movies are so lucrative. They're the only mainstream horror films released around Halloween. I guarantee that if any other big horror film, even a remake like Halloween, was released to compete with 'Saw IV' (oh jesus...why?) it would beat it.
And if Saw IV was released at any other time of the year, it would bomb.
People go to see Saw sequels because they have no other scary movies to go see on Halloween. It's sad.
'Torture Porn' is a dying fad anyway. Hostel 2 bombed, and Saw 4 will probably be the last one, once people realize they are being duped out of their money to watch movies that are just gory and not scary at all.

Anyway...I saw Halloween tonight and was very disapointed. Now it wasn't as bad as the Saw movies or the Black Christmas remake (barf) but after seeing and loving 'The Devil's Rejects' I couldn't wait to see what Rob Zombie was going to do next. The beginning was needlessly long, and the ACTUAL story of Michael coming home was way too rushed. I didn't care what happened to Laurie. And there were too many deaths. The original had 5 or 6. But this one had at least 15-20. (Don't know for sure.)

I hope they don't make a sequel, because, sad to day it, this should be the final nail in the Halloween coffin.

Man, horror movies are in a shitty state right now!

What was the alternate ending?

If you must know: :)

SPOILERS AHEAD!

In the original cut of the film, Loomis rescues Laurie from the empty pool (like in the theatrical cut), shooting in Michael in the back three times before he goes down. He and Laurie take shelter in a police car, where Laurie asks Loomis if that was the Bogeyman. Loomis replies, "Yes, I believe it was," right before Michael smashes the window and yanks Laurie out of the car. Loomis pursues, and corners Michael on the porch of (what I think is) Laurie's house. Michael holds the knife to Laurie's throat, but Loomis insists she did nothing wrong, that he is the one who failed Michael, not her. The police arrive, surrounding Michael, but Loomis demands that they let him handle this. He manages to break through to the shred of humanity left in Michael, and Michael drops the knife and lets Laurie go. Loomis smiles, tells Michael he did good, and leads Laurie away. Once they're out of the way, the police open fire, killing Michael despite Loomis' protests. The final shot is of Loomis standing over Michael's body while the audio recording of their first session plays over the soundtrack.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The alternate ending makes the original sound great! He tapped into the last shred of humanity in Michael?! The whole 45 minutes of the movie was to show how he has no humanity left. Jesus, Rob Zombie is just....not a good person to have remade this movie.

I wanted the stupid bitch Laurie to die the moment she come on the screen.

it's very simple.... SAW turns out a new movie every halloween and SAWIV would kick Halloween's ass! And it didn't want it's ass kicked.

Saw sucks.

The first one was great....after that it sucked.

And Halloween( the series) is awesome. Zombie did a great job with the remake. There were some scenes that I loved from the original that didnt make it: Some michael stalking laurie scenes, laurie hiding in the closet, and micheal getting shot and dissapearing at the end of the original film.

8.5/10:gogirl:

I'm a man of "why" questions, the philosopher in me demands it.

Which complicates this movie for me.

I did like it, to an extent, but it didn't answer the whys for me.

For example, the entire "Well, Michael's just a psychopath" explanation...Doesn't hold up when compared to his treatment of the "Janitor" in the Sanitarium and his sister.

Why would he kill the janitor, who understood him and as well as befriended him in a way, but at then (at first) try to reconnect with his sister...Doesn't make much sense...Psychopaths can still have friends, sociopaths won't.

And the "Michael is pure evil", explanation doesn't work either...Again because of his initial decision to try and reconnect with Laurie rather than just kill her right off the bat. He only attacked her, and tried to kill her, when she tried to kill him.

So, neither explanation fully helps the viewer understand why Michael kills the way he does.

As for Loomis, I'm pissed as hell about his dying. (Also, for Heroes fans...Is it just me, or does Malcolm McDowell have a thing lately for dying by massive head hemorrhaging?)

Again, Loomis' death doesn't tie in with either theory as Loomis was very much a friend with young Michael...But, did damage their relationship when he finally gave up hope on him.

So, yes...Can anyone clear up the why questions?

I personally love the Saw series. The torture style movies are the only ones that actually scare me it seems.

I liked the beginning much more than the last half. I thought it was cool that they showed Jason as a child and in the jail. That was my favorite part. After that it went downhill. And I felt that the ending dragged on.

I think you mean Michael sweety. Jason is a completely different psychopath with an unexplored back story. lol.

this movie has one of the biggest plot holes in recent memory

the sheriff explains that he secretly took the baby from the house when Michael's mother offed herself and took the baby to another county social service agency where she was adopted - all so that she could grow up without being involved in the Michael Myers thing.

Does anyone think that Michael's mother could kill herself, the police show up, and no one says - hey, where's the other kid - everyone would have known there was another child so no way the sheriff could slip the kid out of the house and get her adopted --

as in no way he could show up with an undocumented toddler at a social service agency and she'd get adopted with no one wondering things like where the hell the kid came from

not a plot hole but a dumb mistake: Michael kills 3 people in his family on Halloween for which he is convicted... and the movie makes reference to his being convicted for the 3 murders... but... he murdered four people that day, the first being that student from his school ... someone would have eventually noticed that kid never came home from school and put 1 + 1 together and get 2, or in this case, put 1 + 3 together and get 4...

I hate when there are stupid mistakes like that because someone was not paying attention

Sorry if this is a bit off topic, but isnt the girl who plays Annie, the SAME girl who played Jamie Lloyd in Halloween 4 & 5? Or am i retarded?

You are in no way retarded. And you are spot on. Danielle Harris did indeed portray Jamie Lloyd in The Return and The Revenge of Michael Myers in the late 80s. She was also Alicia Witt's room mate in Urban Legend, in that tunnel in Daylight and Aviva in Charmed.
