Boxing Day is my Christmas Day. Given my family consists only of my parents, Christmas is usually just a normal day, but Boxing Day is when all the friends gather for drinking, eating and generally catching up.

I'm so ridiculously organised this year that it's only 9:56 am and I'm already sitting here waiting for everyone to arrive. This year is just a quiet one, I've got about 15 people due to arrive around 1 pm. Apart from the fact I forgot to take the chickens out of the freezer last night - awesome - I'm already done.

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, and if you get a holiday for Boxing Day as well hope you have a great day.

Feel free to drop over for a cocktail and some frozen chicken any time after 1pm :D

I've still got 6 more hours before boxing day kicks in. Enjoy your visit with our guests (and your frozen chicken).

^ McDonald's would probably make a McChicken Popsicle out of them and sell them for $2.99 a piece.

Still 15 minutes to go here. I need to go for a walk or something tomorrow to get some fresh air. Too much sitting around over-indulging today.

So, does everyone have their own gloves or are there rentals?

Ten minutes in my parents nuclear powered microwave and those birds be defrosted. There's already complaining about the scent of garlic coming out of the kitchen. All is well with the boxing day world.

Purina, I rent the gloves, that way I can ensure that only have bits of metal sewn into them.

And do you make a special dinner for the kangaroos too?

Boxing Day is a shopping day here in the states. Unfortunately, they don't even call it "Boxing Day" here. This year, because all of the major retailers did not surpass their sales expectations, there is heavy advertising already, and huge markdowns to get people to spend, spend, spend... (while they return or exchange some of their gifts...)

Maybe it's a good thing there aren't very many spectacular deals on Boxing Day... just look at what happens in the USA on Black Friday! People getting trampled, knifed, shot, etc. in Wal-Mart over a Tickle Me Elmo. I didn't even go out at all today because I knew every store was gonna be a madhouse, even though I needed to go to the store to pick up a few things.

^
Yeah. Stores need to re-think how they're doing things. Apparently they brought the late-shipping situation on themselves, because everyone knew ahead of time that prices would drop shortly before Christmas, so people waited until then to order -- result, a massive shipping surge no one could handle.

And in the stores, shopping surges no one could handle.

We went out for a late lunch and a movie - the Malls were absolutely packed.

The movie theatre we went to is behind one of the large malls in our area - I avoided the mall traffic as much as possible - it was a sea of cars. Then I discovered they had pressed some of the parking behind the theatre into mall parking w/ shuttle bus service.
