Happy Boxing Day Cherubs

After a long couple of days on call, i treated myself and a friend to a performance of "The Lion King" at Edinburgh's Theatre Royal. Truly amazing, and worth every penny.

We saw it years ago - Toronto - we were in the balcony, and the animals STILL came walking in past us.

It was a memorable time.

I went to the mall today, and it wasn't that much busier than it normally is... but I still got to take advantage of the boxing day sales... I bought a new pair of headphones hehe

That was one of the major gifts around here - I bought all my ladies new phones - BJ's had a good sale on some Able Planet that got excellent customer reviews for $40/set. I was afraid they weren't going to show up in time, and my local store had a clearance sale on one of their styles - so my brother in-law got a similar pair, too.

(They came in a rainbow of colors - one daughter got purple, one blue, my wife got charcoal grey so it would be work boring.)

I have a pair of Bose over the ear that I bought a couple of years ago.

I know there are sets that are a LOT more expensive out there - but for our purposes, these seem to be working very well. My 22YO loves them.

In the US, of course, if people earned decent wages, there would probably be more deals on lower prices, because there would be more money being spent by more people.
No, "more money being spent" cause sellers to raise prices. It is called inflation. Seriously, it is real word. Look it up. A scarcity of money cases sellers to lower their prices. And higher wages forces employers to look for ways to reduce the number of employees they must pay, and causes them to raise prices to continue to make profits notwithstanding the higher wages. Thus higher wages hurt the unemployed, making employers reluctant to higher more, while driving up prices that the unemployed pay.

Boxing Day is my birthday, albeit not celebrated in the US yet. I tell people my birthday is celebrated in much of the world. Boxing Day in English speaking countries, Kwanzaa among some blacks. Mao's birthday in China. Good King Wenceslaus is the carol for the day.

Benvolio,
That's partly true.

It's Supply vs. Demand.

The price of a gallon of gas in July, 2008 averaged $4.11/Gal in the US.
That same gallon, Jan. 20, 2009 was $2.86/Gal.

What had changed in that period of time? (and, no, President Obama taking the oath of office didn't make it drop $1.25/Gal overnight.)
