I am also amazed how cheerfull genocidal maniacs can be in the face of their ideologies of hatred, extermination and plans for wholesale supression and bloodshed..

Nazis believe(d) that everyone else was a non-entity. Many Christians also hold that belief, apparently.

The former is true (for the most part, MANY churches are helping us fight for equality and open their doors to us) the latter is simply silly, I know many Christians who don't eat babies.

I grew up in a country that the threat to communism led people saying that Socialist (extremists) and Communists eat children..... Now... this argument is just as ignorant and the others I hear in this place. Ok, so gays cannot get married now.... the future may be different and if it is not... .... and if remains this way...oh well, we are going to be dead anyway.

is this what you mean by "non entity":
A person regarded as being of no importance or significance

i can create thread called "Happy murderers but i won't" ;)

Religion and morality overlap in places, but, religion does not equal morality. A person's belief of having any deity or not, is no indicator as to a person's morality.

Religion has used the morality ticket as a strategy to beat down unbelievers and people who disagree with them for millenia. They make morality meaningless when they perpetrate such barbarity like in the Spanish inquisition, catholic inspired, and a part of western civilisation as are the Crusades.

Apologies gsdx, but I believe the correct response is "not any more", lets not forget that period in Christianity's history marley.

Maybe this thread was a step to far.

Oh well.

I just don't think we should be promoting atheism because its not a fact. Its not a likely outcome and it leads to a valueless humanity to whom morality is merely a strategy..

arrgghh

I've known a number of atheists in my lifetime, and they've ranged from kind, loving and considerate people, to gruff, crabby and mean people.

No different than what one will find in Christians, homeless people, factory workers, divorcees, redheads, people from [insert country of your choice], racial groups, people who commute more than forty miles a day, Chicago Cubs fans, or whatever...

Sigh. You've met the test of Godwin's Law and you manage to acknowledge the "thread was a step too far." Or "to far." Or whatever.

Other things are not fact, like gravity or potato chips, but they do not merit your opprobrium and I have no idea why not.

As for valuelessness being a necessity of atheism, whatever bones I have to pick with Christopher Hitchens regarding sloppy arguments or flawed recommendations for international relations, he has written more eloquently than any gospel with respect to individual virtues, morals, and humility, all of which are evident in atheism. Even resplendent in atheism.

Your points of view on this count of values and morality are so utterly baseless I'm surprised you even were able to discern that this thread was a step too far.

People, I'm trying to feed the troll something to cure what ails him. Send penicillin. Or maybe pray for him, whatever you imagine will work.

Well I have yet to come across a decent justification for morality

then you're just a fucked up human being

nuff said

and don't be a tard and keep editing your posts
how can i quote them then
