Good old 3.14, today's date in the U.S. system: 3/14. If you like military time, the "pi-est" part of the day is in the afternoon at 3 p.m. -- 3/14 15:00; it doesn't get any better than that because the next digit, 9, is more than the number of second in a minute... unless you want to be sloppy and write the time as 15:09.

Pi is in our lives all over the place, any time there's a circle or part of one, and in some other strange places. Here's one to guess at:

One hint: that's not about springs or pendulums, which are two places pi is important. Some help: v is velocity and s (for arcane reasons) is distance; f has to do with circular motion.

Pi trivia: NASA normally uses 15 digits of pi. This is sufficient that if they used six more, the difference in the distance around the orbit of Neptune (treating it as a circle) is less than the length of a typical human hand!

Got any other pi trivia?

The only pi I like has an "e" on the end of it.

Fittingly, today is also Albert Einstein's birthday. Born March 14, 1879. Happy 141.
