Happy Thanksgiving.

luxury of being able to regulate our own individual doses of social activities.:)

I have no luxury of being able to regulate social activities, at least when it comes to holidays. I have no available social activity to regulate.

It can be a fucking lonely time of year for me, frankly.

Although I do have to admit that I am glad to be spared certain things, like crazy relatives, pity invitations for Thanksgiving, etc.

While spending all day preparing Thanksgiving dinner from a gift of kits from Blue Apron, I kept recalling how wonderful and easy it used to be to sit at a booth at a dime store and order the turkey platter - any time of year,

^Maybe not the dime store...but I did have the turkey dinner at Eat 'n Park in Dormont, PA two weeks ago. Their restaurants are all over greater Pittsburgh.

I think we put pressure on ourselves at the Holiday's sometimes. I spent my Thanksgiving alone by choice this year. Was not in the mood to hear about politics and everyone's issues in life.

I did accept the homemade cookies and almond paste bars my lesbian neighbor friends dropped off for me. I wouldn't deny them the pleasure of giving.

"dime store"
You really are showing your age!

We had three of them in our neighborhood, all on the same block - Neisner, Kresge and Woolworth. Not to mention the basement restaurants of Federals and Monkey Wards - also on the same block.

Have you ever shopped at Oleson's Mercantile?

Never heard of them, Is that supposed to be some sort of joke?

Little House on The Prairie tv show
You may be old if you remember this show when it first aired

You are really old if you watch this show, and you say: "I remember that era and this show really doesn't capture it right!"

Our small community had a Duckwalls with a food counter. I think K-Mart bought out Duckwalls...or maybe the K-Mart's were an upgrade from Duckwalls. We also had a Woolworth but I don't remember a food counter.
