The teaming-up of Billie Ray Martin and Hard Ton is a match made in a parallel universe. Their common love for old-school Chicago and Detroit House and Techno brought them together in an attempt to pay tribute whilst creating something of the future.

The Billie/Hard Ton penned song "Sold Life" and the cover version of Phuture Phantasy Club's classic track "Fantasy Girl" find Hard Ton doing what they do best - making classic house music. For Billie Ray Martin too it is a return to her classic house beginnings and a nod to her famed Electribe 101 roots.

Hard Ton's Max adds his 'Sylvester'-style vocals to the mix with restraint and style.

The remix of "Fantasy Girl" by Snuff Crew with its anthemic piano vibe takes this release to yet another level. Luke Solomon's mixes of "Sold life" add a more experimental approach, whilst being floor slammers.

Billie Ray Martin and Hard Ton: more Diva than Crawford and Davis in one package.

Toy Tonics is a new label from Germany, setting out to release funky future-retro house and electronic dance music. They're mainly concentrating on artists who are working in Berlin or have a strong relationship to the city. Influenced by 90s house music and German electro-funk.

This first release is by Italian-born, Berlin-based performance artist and house diva Hard Ton - sounding like Sylvester reincarnated. Future Hi-NRG, acid basslines, Chicago Trax sounds. Using only analogue gear: 303, 606, Oberheim DMX, Korg Monopoly, MS20, Prophet V5...

As well as the two original cuts - "Not Again" and "In This Moment" - we also get a couple of remixes: Dimitri From Paris & DJ Rocca take us back to late 80s / early 90s piano house, while Snuff Crew strips things back for some jacking acid. This record makes people screeeeeeaaam!
