You know how they say "the difference between straight and gay is a sixpack of beer" :roll:? A few days ago a buddy and mine were discussing this more or less wholehearted over a few beers :) Eventually the discussion shifted towards

"Since so many people call themselves top/bottom only, and many tops do think that being a bottom is being less of a man - what takes it to change that?"

It doesn't take much as we then found out in our little experiment.

Here is the setup:
We created a profile on a gay hookup site. We included a few pics, and made a gay "Mr Superhot and Well endowed". Yes, yes it was a fake profile .. I know we should feel bad but it was all in the name of science ;) And if it helps .. we never made anyone any hopes besides the first message.
So we searched for all kinds of "top only" guys that were looking for quick hook ups, and contacted them with a message like "Damn you are hot, I would love to get it going with you, too bad that we are both top only!". And here are the results

Out of 30 "Top only" guys that we contacted
23 suggested that they could bottom for the profile, since it is so hot/well endowed
4 suggested we should look out for a nice bottom and make it a threesome
3 didn't reply

So basically .. if you're hot, nobody cares what you do to him.
Well .. we weren't surprised by the outcome, but by the high percentage :eek:

My buddy suggested that we should try this next time and ask people who say they only practice safe sex, if they would make an exception. I can kinda imagine the outcome on this one, too .. :(

But .. keep one thing in mind .. yeah all people involved (including us in that case) are totally superficial here, the less shallow people probably wouldn't have the kind of profiles that we contacted - or no profile at all ;)
 
LOL, funny experiment but doesn't surprise me at all.

I actually came to find that most guys who have the "top look" are some of the biggest bottoms ever and since most other gay guys only want to be bottomed by them they are ITCHING to get fucked.

I honestly think the majority of gay/bi guys are vers. Probably leaning towards one side more than the other but I think only a small exception are strictly top or strictly bottom.


I think the aggresive, dominant verbal butch total bottom is an untapped niche' in gay porn. I think it would be hot to have a bottom who ordered another guy to fuck him and took complete control of the sex. I rarely ever see that in porn.

Interesting experiment, and judging from my experiences not surprising.

I'm betting you are going to have similar results with the safe sex experiment.

I know, pretty much for a fact (based on the many escorts and pornstars I've spoken with) that most escorts put "top only" in their ads because "people find that more attractive" while most of them are actually versatile.

I think a guy that truly is "top only" is pretty rare and is someone that is

A. Selfish
B. tried bottoming and really didn't like it/found it painful
 
In my own mind, I just say "whatever!" to myself whenever I see a guy who is "top only" or "I don't like to suck dick". It's simply a marketing gimmick.* Or someone who has issues.





*--the really sad thing is how many guys fall for that. Just like the gay guys who fall for the "I'm straight, but just very horny" or "I'm straight, but comfortable in my sexuality". Ha!
 
I've had similar experiences.

One of guys who I hooked up with regularly(before I met my guy) had a profile that said he like to only top---and he pretty much wanted me to fuck the hell out of him when we did get together...and it was my experience that if a guy is really was into you, they were more likely the "broaden" the things they are willing to do. Me included.

Being unsafe was the dealbreaker for me though.

Well speaking as a top, (mostly), I can say that I tend to avoid guys who describe themselves right up front as a bottom. A lot of times that can be somebody who's too passive or clingy for me.

I generally prefer men who don't say they're top or bottom, then as we get to know each other we can sort out who wants to do what to whom.

Of course this is all theoretical at this point...
 
Oh I'm not saying I don't top, I was just pointing out that topping is more unhygienic than bottoming.
