Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

!oops! I have a naive question.

I haven't read any of the books and have only seen bits of the films on TV. I like some of the actors but haven't really paid attention to the plots.

Can I ask if one of the films is actually better than the others? Or should I sit through the 14 hours from the beginning?

I was actually able to catch the first 5 films on ABC Family. They have much more stuff in them, alot of things that were cut you of the films. If you can find them watch those, well worth it.....

Saw it yesterday, it was awesome! Even my mum, who has had trouble keeping up with the last couple of Harry Potter films, loved it and ranked it as good as the first (her favourite).

It's a bit of a shame they couldn't fit in Dumbledore's back story but there's always the DVD for that.

Alan Rickman knocked it out of the park. I got very watery eyed when he visited the Potters. It was so sad.

I agree with Alan/Snape. It was very moving, and just kind of stayed with you. Holding her like that and baby harry in the back ground. It was a very well done scene.

It was awesome!!!!

Though there were a few parts that would have been more dramatic if taken directly from the book: Neville and the burning Sorting Hat/Gryffindor Sword, and what happened after Pansy wanted to give away Harry.

Also the part with Mrs. Weasley with Bellatrix Lestrange was also seemed stitched in, transitioned too fast.

Otherwise a great movie, even though I was annoyed that my two cousins (who didn't read any of the books) seemed disappointed and had higher expectations action wise.

Yeah, I'm sure no one saw coming the death of the main villian at the end of a series.
It might have been a forgone conclusion for you, but you shouldn't assume the same for everyone else. It's basic forum etiquette anywhere to tag spoilers. Especially with new, major releases like this. I don't want to start a flame war over a standard practice. Just saying.

I loved it. I just can't believe 10 years passed so quickly. I'm gonna miss this

I agree...There's a movie Alan did in the 90's where he & his wife take in some "stranger" and Alan ends up in a Love affair with the Guy. He was Sexy in that flick and I think they showed an "ass shot". I can't remember the name of it...

Just got back from my 2nd viewing, this time in IMAX 3D. It felt much more epic and emotional in that setting than my original viewing. I cried, I cringed, I cheered, much more tonight than I did seeing it in 2D last week.

They did everything really well. A very satisfying ending.

I also just got back from my second viewing, this time in 3D IMAX. While some of it didn't really show much difference from the 2D version, much of the 3D was beautiful, especially the dementors and when Voldemort flakes and floats away. It was so cool watching pieces of him floating off the screen.

When did Dan Radcliffe turn 18?
Was there one film in which you suddenly thought he was 'do-able'?

SPOILER ALERT i guess

Yeah I re-read the final battle again after harry first got killed in the last book, and it was completely different from the film. Dumbledore talking to Harry when he died was completely subdued in the movie. But they did a great job with Harry visiting Snape's memories, made one of the key moments in the book so wonderful.

But I've never seen him in that light. I always imagine him as that eleven year-old, wide-eyed little boy from the first film. Even now as an adult.

That's why I got so creeped out when he was on Broadway and everyone was posting pics and clips from his nude scenes.

It just seemed wrong seeing him in that way.

The way I grew up with these films, it was the equivalent of seeing my little brother naked. :(

I know what you mean. It's like it's so weird seeing Emma Watson become the "babe of the week" on ign. It just creeps me out. Even the other day when my friend mentioned he was attracted to her I said she was like a daughter of the country.

Awesome movie. Saw it in IMAX 3D, and I was really impressed with the effects.

Of course, there were the weirdos that dressed up. Old women dressing up as Dolores Umbrigdge.

Harry' Makes History

Working its final movie mojo, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 soared into the record books with the highest-grossing opening weekend ever. The series finale drew $169.2 million on around 11,100 screens at 4,375 locations, dethroning The Dark Knight's $158.4 million.

Deathly Hallows Part 2's first weekend flew past the previous franchise high of $125 million, posted by Deathly Hallows Part 1 last November, and it topped the franchise in terms of estimated attendance as well. While its opening gross also out-distanced The Dark Knight, Spider-Man 3 ($151.1 million), The Twilight Saga: New Moon ($142.8 million), Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest ($135.6 million) and the first Spider-Man ($114.8 million), Deathly Hallows Part 2's estimated opening attendance was less than those titles, ranking sixth overall.

After conjuring the opening day record of $91.1 million on Friday (buoyed by a record-shattering $43.5 million midnight launch), Deathly Hallows Part 2 saw the steepest Friday-to-Saturday drop on record for a non-holiday first weekend, falling 53 percent to $42.4 million. Its Saturday slotted ninth among the top-grossing Saturdays of all time. On Sunday, it declined 16 percent to $35.7 million, which ranked fourth on the all-time Sunday grosses chart.

Deathly Hallows Part 2 marked Harry Potter's first foray into 3D, and it made a splash with the broadest 3D launch ever (3,100-plus locations, including 274 in IMAX). However, the majority of moviegoers still opted to see the movie in the standard ("2D") format. 3D accounted for 43 percent of the gross, which was a lower share than Transformers: Dark of the Moon's 60 percent at the same point but in the ballpark of most of this summer's other big movies. Still, at an estimated $72.8 million, that translated to the second biggest-grossing 3D opening yet, behind Alice in Wonderland (2010)'s $81.3 million. In IMAX alone, Deathly Hallows Part 2 delivered the top-grossing start ever, generating an estimated $15.5 million versus Alice's second-place $12.2 million.

According to Warner Bros., 54 percent of Deathly Hallows Part 2's audience was female, compared to 57 percent for the last movie, and 45 percent was under 25 years old, compared to 56 percent for the last movie.

As a franchise, Harry Potter has now grossed $2.177 billion, and it's on the brink of eclipsing Star Wars' $2.218 billion to become the top-grossing franchise in history. In terms of estimated attendance, though, the eight Potter movies have had 57 percent of the impact of the seven Star Wars movies. Star Wars even wins on this front when just its initial releases are counted. However, Harry Potter has earned its place in the pantheon with remarkably consistent blockbuster performances. After Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, the sequels' maximum attendance difference was less than 20 percent. That first movie, though, should remain the best-attended, even as Deathly Hallows Part 2 becomes the top-grossing entry.

See I Love that kind of scene...Never get that kind of Movie Love here in the Dirty-Dirty.....I went with 3 Buds and we THOUGHT the 11:15pm showing wouldnt be packed..WRONG...Everyone had the same idea....People actually had to search for seats on the floor near the screen...

The Cute Chick @ the Concession-stand walks down to where I'm standing squirting the Hot Butter on top of my Corn and says , "You can get a Free refill on your Large Popcorn, but we close in 15min"..Why bother telling me if she's closing the stand @ 11:30pm?

Was she trying to hit on me?..........

I don't mean to disagree with anyone here because I really enjoyed the movie. But it fell emotionally flat for me, so I'm glad others were satisfied. Explosions dominated, and the scene of Snape holding Lily had less impact on me than Dobby's death. Which is sort of interesting to consider: that Dobby's death might be the central emotional catharsis of the film series, and not the epic sacrifice of Harry.

As a seasonal entertainment, 10/10.

I saw the 3D version over the weekend. Really thought it was a wonderful end to the movie series. But, I was disappointed over one thing: When Harry announces to Ron and Hermione that he's going into the Forest to face Voldemort, Ron does absolutely nothing. Hermione bursts into tears and hugs Harry. And yet Ron just stands back silently. Your best friend is about die, and you don't even say anything?

By far one of the greatest movies I've seen in a while. But I feel alittle disappointed by some of the omissions from the film. Definetaly Dumbledores back story was a HUGE miss. I think the Battle of Hogwarts was kinda pushed along, I mean I love action packed movies, but come on we only seen action when it comes to the three main heros. I was rooting on the minor characters to have their moment (Trelawny, Sprout, Finnagin, Patils?) But in the end it made me cry lol

Wait did Trelawney even fight in the battle?? I never saw anything in the book, unless I missed it. But yeah and the whole final confrontation with Harry and Voldemort (Harry explaining everything to him) was disappointing.
