First thing I'd like to say is that it's NOT and STD. A lot of people don't know about it until they've researched it or had it themselves and this article says it's not uncommon. If you don't know about it, you can read about it here. It might happen to you one day.
http://www.neilbaum.com/articles/sementurnsred.shtml

I've had it the last 2 times I masturbated. (Side note: I just got a physical 2 weeks ago and my results that came in last week said that I was healthy and had nothing to worry about.)

"Patients with hematospermia are usually categorized into one of two groups. The primary hematospermia group is where the patient's only symptom is blood in the ejaculate. This means that there is no blood in the urine (neither visually nor under a microscope). Also, the patient has no symptoms of urinary irritation or infection and the physical exam is completely unremarkable. Patients who have this type of hematospermia with no other findings are essentially found to have no other problem. The condition is "self-limited", which means it will go away in time without treatment. About 17% of patients will have one episode and no recurrence. Secondary hematospermia is when the cause of bleeding is known or suspected, such as immediately after a prostate biopsy, in the presence of a urinary or prostate infection, or cancer. Unusual causes include tuberculosis, parasitic infections and any diseases that affect blood clotting such as hemophilia and chronic liver disease. Patients who have hematospermia associated with symptoms of urinary infection or visual and/or microscopic blood in the urine require a complete urologic evaluation."

Since I'm in the primary group, the article sounds like it's saying that it's nothing serious and it will go away. I was wondering if I should see a doctor anyways.

With people who've had this before, can you let me in on your experience with it? Especially if you fit in the primary group. How long did you have it for? Did you see a doctor? What did they say?

I had this happen to me a couple years back. Had a full urological exam and full physical and nothing found. I kept having bloody ejaculate consistently for a two week period or thereabouts. The urologist wanted to know how many times a week I was having sex/masturbating. Well I was very, very sexually active with my first boyfriend and I always fired off huge loads. I told the Dr. about this and he said it was likely due to irritation or a small broken blood vessel in the penis. He said having a large ejaculate may be related potentially due to irritation from inside the prostate too.

I had it for like a week a few years back. Obviously I was concerned. But I didnt see a doctor about it. I gave myself like a week to see if it disappeared and if not then I would go. And it did clear up. It was unsettling to say the least and sex was outta the question!!

I had it one time a couple years back. I looked it up online and it basically said it was just a broken blood vessel and would clear up in a couple days. It did scare me a bit. I bet you could find a less technical explanation if you searched a little more.

Thanks for the responses guys. I think I'll wait a week and if I still have it, I'll make an appointment with a doctor.

It happened to me last year, 3 times over a week, went to the Dr, did all sorts of tests everything was fine and it went away on its own. I continue to monitor but nothing in over a year.

I had it a few times over a week. It freaked me out. The first time I had it, I looked down and it looks like how one would think if they ejaculated blood instead of sperm. Freakin nasty. What if you were giving someone a facial and they got a blood shower!

Eventually, it became less red and pink and then dark specks (dried) and almost orange specks mixed in with the milky ejaculate, before going away completely.

I have medical family members and just asked them. Didn't see anyone or anything, had no other symptoms and no reason to believe there was infection (although I wasn't entirely sure there would be other signs if there were infection)
