Has anyone noticed that more and more KFC's are closing . . . WHY?

I like KFC. I was just curious to know if some of your local KFCs are closing down in your neighborhoods here in the U.S.A.? I used to have one about 2 blocks from my house, and it closed down a month ago. The one that was located about 2 miles from my house (in one direction), closed down about a month ago also. The next closest one near my house (2 miles away in another direction) is still open when I drove past it yesterday. :gogirl: One thing for sure, both locations near me always seemed to be doing good business anytime I went to them and drove by them, so I wonder what happened, that those 2 locations closed. Just curious to know if KFCs are closing down in your neighborhood? “Where can a guy get em a 2 piece and a biscuit?"

In my area, most of the KFC's have merged with the also dying Hamburger/Root Beer franchise "A&W", and share a building... which growing up with each of them, is VERY odd for me to see.

To be honest, for whatever reasons I cannot explain, I never really frequented with either place. KFC was probably because of price, and volume. Back then I don't remember them serving much other then a BUCKET of chicken at a time. For what they were charging, I could buy a whole chicken for far less.

we have KFC and Taco Bells together here and they aren't really closing that I've noticed.

I'm not a fan of fast food. But for fried chicken isn't Popeye's better?

My local KFC has the worst customer service reputation in the state - although I've never had any trouble.

KFC makes me ill everytime. :grrr:

I will never go there.

That's because Chick-fil-A is stealing their customers!

:p

There are two in my area that don't look to be closing, but then again I haven't been to a KFC since I was like 12. If I am going to indulge in grease soaked chicken from a fast food restaurant, I'll go to Bojangles. But I don't really do that either.

My KFC has been here for a while. I like their famous bowl, but I hardly ever eat at KFC, though. I thought they were doing pretty good....

kfc is great tasting but at $20 or more for a family meal. i pass on that. it's cheaper to just make meals at home. but damn does it taste good. oh and most of the kfc's down here merged with taco bell and pizza hut. not a fan of taco bell so i tend to steer clear of that.

KFC IS chicken and, thankfully, they are doing well here.

But when a bunch of food fanatics get on some fucking bandwagon to shut down everything people like....... :help:

If YOU think some foods are unhealthy or don't like them.....DON'T FUCKING EAT THEM....... #-o

I wish someone would throw that Jamie Oliver asshole from England who took it upon himself to shove "natural food" down everyones' throats in every school in the USA, and everywhere else, off of a pier somewhere....... :grrr: ........

Demographics.

And failure to innovate.

Their first big mistake was to rebrand as KFC instead of Kentucky Fried Chicken. It made them seem bland and impersonal. While it may have made people stop identifying them with meat deep fried in lard, it also removed the savour and appeal of the product by just thinking of the name.

The next mistake was not realizing that their boom years were based on the baby boomer feeding their families.

Well, now the kids didn't remain committed customers and the parents no longer need a bucket of msg saturated chicken.

So Seven2go, the fact is they are closing not because of consumer activism, they are closing because people have just stopped buying the product.

In Canada, the company that held most of the franchises essentially went bankrupt.

But. Never say never. Most of you are way too young to remember, but there was a time when A&W had all but closed down in many regions and they somehow re-invented themselves.

I have a bizarre and almost irrational soft spot for Kentucky Fried Chicken as a comfort food. In fact my ultimate comfort dinner is properly cooked (not microwaved mush) Kraft Mac and Cheese (the orange coloured stuff) and some KFC chicken.

I suspect it is because of the addictive properties of msg, but I also identify the two foods with simpler times and meals with my grandparents.

Well - I don't know about the US - but here KFC is just about the worst of the 'crap foods' you can find.

You wouldn't find me going near any of their garbage.

The two I go to every once and a while are up and running still. The one I pass by to go to work is still there. :/

I dont really care if KFC closed

Ladies and Gentleman!! Introducing..the best fried chicken in the WORLD!!!

I don't like Jollibee, and I'm Filipino. I find the chicken bland, the palabok ok, and the halo-halo a disappointing, mediocre mix.
