I remember seeing a post of his (one of the longer, serious ones) more than three years ago, just after I joined, and my first thought was "Wow, what an incredible asshole!"

That soon changed, though, as I realized it was merely his way of saying things. I very quickly noticed that I was agreeing with almost everything that he was saying, and I could bet I was reading his exact feelings on an issue. I've seen evidence that his advice has been known to improve the lives of some people who chose to read-and-heed.

I hope to see his return at some point. Of course Jasun will do whatever he chooses, and if he doesn't come back I'll have to respect it, but that doesn't mean that I have to like it...

As far as JUB is concerned, Jasun is what some stupid JUBbers called a "smut peddler", that is, the attention he may need can be obtained anywhere else, but his main role here was that of the PR of the company he worked for: so if he doesn't post (doesn't need to post) about his work, he doesn't need to dspend so much time here anymore.
But like I said and other jubbites too, it's not that clear that he left for good.

Half of Jasun's posts made me want to roar with approval, and half made me want to punch the compter screen.

That's the mark of a great poster.

I hope he isn't gone for good. He has often offered excellent advice.

And I read many of his posts that backed down or apologized for his bombastic rhetoric.

It wouldn't surprise me to learn that some of the people bashing him here are just jealous of his popularity.

I'd say he was indeed popular. Rather few people could generate more than 80 posts on just leaving. Hell, I've been around almost five years and barely any one would even notice if I left.

But then again Belamy you probably don't have to be envious of that....

But, then again, by focusing on being jealous of each other, despite the fact we're all pretty pathetic little creatures, we manage to somewhat numb the discomfort caused by the fact we're pathetic.
