Has South Park gone too far? South Park Mocks Steve Irwin's Death...

How is this any less offensive than some of the other stuff they've done?

Insult is in the eye of the beholder.

south park can't go too far. that is the very essence of the show. anything and everything is fair game.

I just saw the whole episode. This thread is so overblown. #-o

Bad taste? Steve Irwin at Satan's Hallowe'en party
YES they have gone too far he is drinking a corona
shouldent it be a XXXX beer like a true queenslander
very offensive if you ask me;)

I was at a costume part last night and one of the guys came in a wetsuit with a ray in his chest. I was surprised because some of the guests didn't ge it. This guy dressed as Monica Seles years ago complete with knife in his back.

Ok. That may be reasonable grounds to offended.

Meh!

I just wish they'd get their humor back on track. I found this season to be pretty lame, the low point being the Towelie/Oprah episode.

IMO, they can go as far as they want with bad taste as long as they're funny doing it.

By the way, they killed Irwin long ago blending him in a helicopter's blades. I guess they had to acknowledge the way he really died.

A viewing of the show would tell you that it wasn't mocking his death. Stan echoes the sentiment that many would feel that making fun of Irwin's death is in bad taste.

The joke is that the character in question isn't mocking his death because it actually is Steve Irwin.

It's not offensive toward Steve Irwin, it doesn't mock the fact that he died, it just makes it humorous because making jokes about being the dead Steve Irwin are in bad tatse and when they go to calls omeone out on it, it turns out it really is just Steve Irwin.

Honestly, people will get offended about the dumbest stuff when taken out of context.

It couldn't have been more distasteful than the maudlin 'exclusive' interviews given by his widow and the splashings over the covers of the antipodean women's magazines in the weeks following his death. Talk about crocodile tears!

Nor the efforts to push his (4yr old?) daughter into the limelight to 'follow in Daddy's footsteps.'
