Just when I lived at home.

One day my mother sent me out to the car to get something and I came back in and asked her why she got rid of the knob on the shifter. Once she got I wasn't joking she went and looked for herself. Turns out someone stole it and nothing else.

The reason I live where I do now though was because someone kept trying to break into my place while I was at work, but my lock never gave out. I was the only person that was single and worked at night that didn't lose anything. I had tickets to go to Vegas with someone and I was scared to leave my place so I packed up and moved right before I went on vacation.

Our driver's window was broken out and the radio stolen once when we were at the movies. It was dead of winter and we had to drive 20 miles with no window. That was worse than losing the radio.

My house was broken into when I first moved in. I had a lot stolen. A xbox360, dvd player and worse, all my grandfather's gold jewelry that was given to me over the years. I rank people that break into another house as low as they come.

Yes once, my house, on the morning of new years day whilst we were all asleep upstairs.

My aunt parked her car in a church parking lot. She locked her door and left her purse in it. She ran into the church to use the bathroom. She came out finding her purse missing, the car alarm going off... and it turns out the people were having a shopping spree at the mall minutes later.

Since moving out (and in together) my boyfriend and I's car has been broken into 3 times in a month, and stolen once.

Yes, way back in October 2006 I came late from work one night to find my house had been broken into. They didn't steal anything but they ramsacked the place. I had noticed a cigarette butt on my living room floor seeing as I do not smoke in the house I told the police that it was probably the thiefs, he collected it as evidence.

Two weeks ago I got a call from the police and they caught the guy, he had committed another crime and had to give a sample of DNA. When they ran his DNA it popped up from the cigarette butt that he left on my floor. Moral of the story if you are going to smoke while robbing someones house don't leave your ciggy butt behind!! A littlte bit of CSI in my own house!!

A friend of mine had her family car broken into once while they were eating at a restaurant. The only thing that was stolen was the snow brush.

Only in Canada I guess... lol

It would actually be surprising that someone has NEVER had their home or car broken into. It seems that at some point in your life, it's almost a given...especially if you live in or around a big city. I've even lived in a so-called "secure" gated community and still got broken into. Probably an inside job according to the cops...but it happened. You're not completely safe anywhere anymore.

Yes and yes.

Back in '97 some assface smashed the window of my truck and stole all my CD's and cash that I had. I was passed out inside my friends house when this happened. It was a new years eve party too. Not a good way to start '97.

In 2004 some scumbag tried breaking into my house. I heard knocking at the door but blew it off cause I was sleeping. Next thing I know the door is being kicked in!! I run upstairs pretending to be yelling into my cell phone, "Someone’s breaking into my house!! Get over here quick!!" That was enough to scare the prick off. I got a good look at the cowards back as he ran down the street. I had just undies and a shirt on otherwise I'da ran after that piece of shit. Got a solid metal door with a dead bolt after that crap.

God I hate thieves. :grrr: Glad I live in a nice neighborhood now. I still lock everything up though. Some people are scum.

Yes, a while back I had cash and cds stolen from my car.
I no longer keep anything valuable in my car due to that.
As to my house, no, and I'd like to keep it that way.

My house has been attempted to be broken into twice and both times the alarm scared them off. The second time my crazy but wonderful neighbor ran up the hill and started banging on the door. Yiikes!
