On closing her Twitter account:

"I just think kids all over the world could maybe take a little vacation from Cyberspace," she wrote. "My problem with the internet is it makes negativity so available. It allows people to anonymously hurt others without any consequences. That is not the real world. Not only that, but if we spent more time enjoying what we are doing besides tweeting about it, we would enjoy our lives a whole lot more."

^ Neither am I, but, like you said, kids worship her and perhaps they'll listen to her.

If these are truly her own thoughts, then I'm rather surprised by her wisdom.

I think that's lovely, and very smart. And she does have a good deal of sway over the young'uns, especially girls 8-12. I don't suppose that's who's tweeting the most, but what do I know?

Of course, if Disney owned Twitter, she'd be tweeting a different tune.

I'm interested in seeing how she and the Jonas Brothers progress as they grow up. Disney's track-record with child stars hasn't exactly been exemplary: they either do a spectacular crash and burn or just quietly disappear... I can't think of any who had a post-Disney career.

Hilary Duff, Shia LaBouf(sp?), Lindsay Lohan.

I think those are the only ones though?

But wow, I gotta give props to Miley for that. Let's hope her fans listen.

Okay, Christina and Justin I'll give you (I forgot about them being on the Mickey Mouse Club a hundred years ago), but while Britney had a hell of a career, her most spectacular performance to date has been her lengthy meltdown from cutesy popstar to puffy nutcase.

Lindsey Lohan... what has she been in besides gossip magazines? And thought Shia leBeouf has had some pretty juicy roles, he's also been hauled in on drug charges twice. Perhaps I'm not in the swim enough, but I haven't heard a peep out of Hilary Duff since she dyed her hair brown.

But Miley does seem pretty grounded. I think it helps that her father is a celebrity who managed to navigate the reef when "Achey-Breaky" shot him to the top. Unlike the stage-moms and -dads enjoyed by the trainwrecks mentioned above, he doesn't have to live through his child nor squeeze as many dimes out of her as he can before she turns into a tabloid legend.

Clearly Miley hasn't heard of the shiney 'ignore' button or the 'block' button. That poor thing. She does make a valid point, however.

I'm sorry but I will only ever think that girl is a prize cunt, no matter what she says or does.

Well, she just wants her fans to go out and buy more of her crap and see her shows.

Shia has two drug charges sure, but that isn't going to stop his career any.

Hilary has a small role on Gossip Girl right now. Started last week. Not sure how long that will last.

Lindsay is a real talent, and has good work under her belt. But she has been a ticking time bomb for awhile. She can come back from her crazy life, but I doubt she will for awhile. Maybe she can pull a Robert Downey Jr. or something?

Britney Spears, for all her meltdowns has had a long and successful career. Which means she has a strong base of loyal fans. Britney isn't over.

This is all my opinion though, so who knows?

Although, Miley seems to be turning into a young Lindsay fast

I don't think her reasons are exactly right or honorable for leaving twitter.

However, if she can set a positive example of "GET THE FUCK OFF MYSPACE, FACEBOOK, and TWITTER" than she does deserve praise.

Thanks Obama.
