Have you Cancelled your Landline?

i haven't had a land line for the last five or six years.

i use my cell phone for everything.

I don't get good enough reception in my house to do without a land-line. I thought it was just my service, but I've discovered that nobody's cell comes in here. Which makes sense, since I've never been able to get a good radio reception in here, and TV antennae have to be outside to work.

It's something called a "Fuller's cage effect"? Something that sounds like that. But the walls of my house (and all the houses in my neighborhood) are lath-and-plaster, just sheets of chickenwire underneath each layer, which interferes with radio waves. I have to go stand by the front windows to get even one bar, and all the way outside to the intersection to get a full signal.

i have a mobile phone that recognizes when i am at home. and when i am at "home" i have landline conditions for all call costs :)
good thing is you can change your "home" location once a month.

I have just had a cell phone for probably 5 years.

No. But I've opted down to the very basic service for $9 a month. I've lived here for 30 yrs. with the same number and it would seem odd not to have my house phone after having it this long. I tend to have a hard time letting go.

No, but I've left all the phones off their bases long enough for them to go dead, because I'm sick and tired of it ringing all the time.

We don't have a landline anymore. Seems like a waste of money if you have a cell phone.

I use Vonage -VOIP (so I have kind of given up a standard land line) the advantage the adapter box I throw in my computer bag and where ever I go that has broadband I plug the box in and it thinks I am in Florida so all calls to US are free.

I've used it for extended times while in Germany, Singapore, Indonesia and saved a bundle on phone calls.

When home I make too many international calls for cell usage, with the VOIP has an international plan all cheaper than a lineline.

With all the above "babble on" Yes I've gotten rid of my land line.

I do. I give it to people who I don't really want to talk to. If they call and I don't answer I can just say I was out.

1 - Without my land line, I'd have no internet service.

2 - I hardly ever call anyone, so don't really need the additional expense of a cell phone.

3 - Hardly anyone ever calls me.

4 - I don't go anywhere. My phone doesn't have to be mobile.

^ Yes, but it's way more expensive than what I'm paying now. I'm on a very limited budget.

I don't have a cell phone and never will. They are an intrusion on ones life and people with them are the most rude people in the world. :grrr: I hate to be with "friends"and have them ignore me to talk endlessly to other people. "Dude am with you. Talk with me".

My best ( and str8) friend just dropped by from out of town for a visit. Spend most of the time texting and talking while we where trying to have a conversation. And he is not the only one.

And I thought I was the Only one (*8*)(*8*)

Not to mention the cost of them here in Canada we do not have the cheap cell phone prices like the U.S. Everyone I know who has one is paying at least $60/month for their cell phone my land line cost me $15 and if I need to I can use a payphone while I am out.
