I clean mine out every few months. I just deleted about 600 of them which brought me up to the end of October. I have just over 100 left.

If you don't know how to get there, click 'My Settings'. You'll see your latest subscriptions there. Scroll to the bottom of the list and click the link there to view all your subscriptions and to edit (delete or move) them.

If you're a regular poster, the volume may surprise you.

Thanks, Neil. Since my return I'd forgotten how to do that, or else the method had changed.

I was trying to remember how not an hour ago.

Is there a limit as to how many subscriptions we can have?

I'm approaching 1,500 (again)!

I used to clean them out, but then there were a few "oldies", REAL "Oldies", that "re-emerged" to great surprise! ..|

And, yeah!, I'm set to subscribe to whatever I reply to. SO ... this one adds one more! (group)

I did it yesterday. I rarely let them get past one page.

Cleaned out a lot of them but still keep the ones I feel are important available.

I've never done a large purge in my subscribed threads, but twice I've LOST a bunch of subscribed threads without any kind of warning or any indication why.

Occasionally I'll purge the Fun And Games threads from my subscriptions (as I did four or five days ago), but eventually they'll come back when I get in the mood to go over there. I have my settings for daily email summaries of all my subscribed threads.

First it happened about 3 years ago when JUB underwent some major renovations (I think around the time the Chat was dropped), but then it happened again this year around April or May, I think.

Even Corny wasn't able to replicate the problem, or figure out why I lost most of my subscriptions twice.

Sometimes I'm pleasantly surprised to see an old thread re-emerge. If the thread interested me originally, it will probably continue to interest me later.

Don't we all love to stress the JUB database?

I save them, and I'd take it offline if there wasn't room. There's some great material in those old threads. It's rare that I post in something I don't want automatically added.

What's to be gained by it?
I rarely (=never) look at them.

Then how do you keep track of what threads you have posted to? Who may have replied to you and be waiting for a response in turn etc.?

On all vBulletin sites I jus bookmark the "My Settings" or "Control Panel" page to jump directly to subscribed threads and forums. Doesn't everyone?!?

I scan the board to see if any of the threads I was interested in have new replies.
There's also the checkmark next to threads you've posted in.

Seems very inefficient... if most people on this site do that, it might explain why so many threads feel more like random posts than ongoing conversations.

By bookmarking on "my Settings", I see everything at once. Open all subscribed threads and forums in new tabs. Then scan the forum tabs for interesting threads and open in new tabs (I only look at threads started since I last saw the site). Then I work my way through the tabs reading new messages, again the "reply with quote" is opened in a new tab, so that I don't actually type any reply to a thread before seeing all potential replies I may make there.

Sounds complicated, but its so simple and fast. 2-3 minutes on a site like this to open all threads I want to read, at most. And this is a very quiet site, some I read may have 5 or more pages of new posts per thread in 24 hours!

Since we have some experts here, this might be a good place to ask my question. When I elect to subscribe to a thread, I'm given the choice of folders. However, when I reply to a thread, it automatically goes into the huge pile of "subscriptions" and I have to go back and put it into a folder. Is there a way to change that? Ideally, I'd get the same choice of folders as I do when subscribing without replying. I have a lot of subscriptions and I want only the most important ones to show up on the first page. I've been lazy and now I have a huge number of unsorted threads. Thanks.

Folders? There are folders for subscriptions?

I guess I'm lazy! I just hit "My Settings" and let the list of subscribed threads, with new replies since I was last "on", come up. Then, I start at the bottom of the list, and work my way up 'til I'm done "catching UP". ..|

Then, it's off to "New Posts" to see if there is anything that catches my interest, and, if I reply, they're automatically added to my (extensive) list. Most of the time I have NO idea what Forum I might be in!

You can create new folders if you want to divide your subscriptions into categories and move your subscriptions into them. For example, I have a 'Keepers' forum where I move the threads I want to keep so I don't have to look through several hundred links for the one I want.

Not as far as I know. vBulletin in heavily customizable, though, so a module/plug-in to do that may exist, or it could be that the site owners could modify the code to allow it.
