  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Have you ever been cut off at a bar?

Never been cut off or thrown out - but I've cut people off and 'asked' them to leave several times. Always got an apology from them the next day too!

I'll bet when that happens in England -- with your proper way of speaking and British accent -- it PROBABLY sounds NICE!!! :D

I'll have the ask Mills abut that...

5 in two hours... That's cute...

That's what I thought..

But yes,In my drinking days,I've been cut off a few times. For some reason,it mostly seemed to happen in Portland Oregon..Then, usually at The Silverado..Other times, I've nodded off at bars there and they'd just pull my drink, throw a cup of coffee in fron of me and let me sleep for a bit. When I awoke, they'd tell me they wouldn't serve me anymore and that I had to leave..

Yes,I've also been chucked from bars too. There are a couple I'm not allowed back in..Ever.

I don't think there's any such thing as a "British" accent. ChickenGuy and I sound like we come from different planets. And don't assume that someone who sounds British is necessarily going to be as nice as he is.

No, I've never been cut off at a bar. I probably should have been though, many times.

Yeah I was cut off at my friends wedding and at another time at my friends birthday party at a bar. My friends wedding I could understand, but at the bar the bartender was an asshole and there were way worse off drunk people in the bar. I have always hated that bar, aside from being cut off, stupid hipster bar!

Sure I've been cut off (back in my hard liquor days). I used to try any and every drink I could find. I mainly stick to beer now. Maybe a shot on a special occasion. I've only been 86'ed twice. Both times a couple years ago when I would just binge at the bar.

I've been on both ends. When I bartended, I definitely cut people off before (of course then their friends just buy them drinks and it makes it worse).

The only time I have been cut off was I walked out of a club trashed and my friends couldn't find me. The bouncer wouldnt let me back in to my friend's 25th birthday party and so my friends had to take me home. Not exactly me at my finest but sadly, that is how I met my current BF. At least my BF has already seen me at one of my worst moments lmao.

I was once cut off at an Irish wedding where over half of the guests were trashed and it was quite embarassing. Fortunately other people were nice enough to get me drinks for the rest of the evening!

No, and if I have I'd be grateful to the bartender for doing me a favour. A bartender has a legal duty to refuse serving to someone who's already had a little too much to drink.

5 in 2 hours - I'd say I'd probably advice you to take a cab and go home if I was the bartender.

Of course, I've been cut off at bars, but I have no idea how many times, not many. I just don't keep track.

But, like you, I was once cut off after maybe just one drink, or two. I was just exhausted from work and was starting to nod off. Bartender must have thought I was totally wasted, but that wasn't the case.

five "tall" beers (i guess 0.5 l ?) in two hours are enough to get cut off

this will get interesting if i ever go out drinking in the us ;)

Alright at the next JUB meet that I go to, there's going to be a Power Hour. Let's see how many can walk away from that.

Power Hours consist of basically drinking 7 drinks within one hour. (It's taking shots of beer every minute over the hour.)

what is the definition of a "drink" in that? just beer? 0,5l? 0,33l? how much alcohol? 5%?

Hmm, never really thought about it because we usually just use pitchers for all of us, but I did the math using the standard size of a shot (44ml) it's just over 2.5l over the hour.

And we always use beer, so that's about 5-7%. I'd never use hard liquor for a game like this...

ok .. that is a lot, but I think I could survive that ;) still .. that will not be a night where you do anything else, unless you take a huge pause after that ;)

No. Back in the day getting hammered in a bar was no big deal and was expected.

Only the night I chugged a long island ice tea....easily the dumbest move I ever made.
