Have you visited either of these cities? If so, what do you think of them?

I just returned from Atlantic City. The Caesar Palace casino has a first-rate shopping arcade called The Pier. On the third floor you'll see a sweeping panorama of the beach and ocean. Very nice.

Hmmm. I just tried to edit my post and couldn't. I should have included a "both" option.

Nope. Never been to Atlantic city. Been to Vegas though. Lots more to see there.

I grew up in Joisey, and visited Atlantic City many times. Never been to a casino there.

Visited Vegas plenty. Mostly on business. Certainly have won money at the airport slots.

I've gambled in the Bahamas and a few other international places.

Live near Hallendale, Hollywood and Pompano Beach near Ft.Lauderdale and all of those have casinos now. The casino at the Gulfstream Park race track is BEAUTIFUL. It looks like a Mediterranean palace. It hasn't caught on yet, but it will. You see it from the highway and go Ooooooh! I won a couple hundred dollars there on Thanksgiving this year. I took some friends there for a huge buffet dinner and we all won money in the casino later!

I've been afraid to go back...I want to keep my loot!

Sorry - the poll didn't pop up when I first opened the thread, so I didn't know what the other city was. :D

I've been to Vegas several times, and am going back next month. I don't gamble, but I actually enjoy the whole "touristy" feel of the city. I like the shows, the atmosphere, all that. It seems everything has moved higher-end since the last time we went, which is odd - surely not EVERYBODY in town is a high-roller...

Been to both. AC was promised an economic bonanza if there was gambling 30 years ago. The town itself is still quite shitty and crime ridden. The food in the casinos is getting much better, particularly at The Quarter at the Tropicana. Vegas, outside the casinos is really very dirty. I stayed at the Bellagio. It was classy, as casinos go. Food was top notch. Not very much in the way of gay places in either locale. I really don't get into gambling so I can't evaluate that aspect too much.

Been to both. Gambling isn't my thing though.

When I was growing up, A.C. was where the gay boys in Philly and South Jersey went to in the summer.

Thunder bay, Ontario, Canada Has Place for Gambling ......it has been open for 7 years now

never been to either, but since I'm from CT I have been to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun. Foxwoods is the largest casino in the world.

I've been to Las Vegas more than once, and a lot of furniture that I designed is in hotels there, including wall sconces for the executive men's bathrooms at the Belagio, chandeliers for the MGM Grand, and various other furniture when I was doing hospitality furniture design briefly. I went there last on business to man a booth at a hospitality furniture expo. I had to design the booth and also work at the booth, and when the day was done, the hotel swimming pool was closed - major bummer - no swimming at night. I had good food there, however.

I've also been to Reno/Lake Tahoe, which is more scenically beautiful. I don't gamble, and so the casinos have no attraction for me and are excessively smoky.

Same here, there were no casinos there in those days, which for me would have been the early-mid 70's. I don't remember much, just a boardwalk, games and of course salt-water taffy.

I've been to Vegas once, about 10-12 years ago. It's about a 5 hour drive from here, and it doesn't interest me much. I'm too tight with my $$ to be a gambler.

And please, it's NEW JERSEY. Although SoCal has been home to me for over half my life, I still don't like to hear people make fun of my birthplace.

:-)
