Have You Ever Cut Your Own Hair?

Yes, I haven't gone to a hairdresser for years. It's only hair, just some months and it'll be the same.

Only once it got really bad, but I shaved, so it finally was ok.

Funny, I cut it yesterday. It's not great, it's not that bad
 
On a few occasions.

I run a thin comb through both sides, and trim whatever length is there.

I surprise myself with how mediocre I can make it look at times.

Me too but when I decided I want to get my hair cut now at 2AM, I use hair scissors in the bathroom and cut my hair usually turns out fine...by sometimes few of my friends would say a thing or two about my hair next day or so but I don't really care and if even I think it turned out bad I just go to hairdresser next day or so :)
 
Haven't been to a hairdresser for months - the Turkish ones in my area are great and inexpensive, but when it comes to my head shape, they always fuck it up, which isn't their fault.

Observing them I learnt some "tricks", furthermore I have two bathroom mirrors, so when using my trimmer I can easily see what I'm doing on the sides and the back.

Takes me between 45 minutes and two hours to trim, plus showering and cleaning up the bathroom, but at least I more or less get the haircut that fits me.

Yep, have used the clippers to buzz my hair for about 4 years now...works great, occasionally I miss a spot here or there if i'm in a hurry but overall I am happy because I like the buzzed look anyway since I have thin hair....plus I think it probably saves me about 120 dollars a year. If I went to a barber and got the same thing done every two weeks for ten dollars a cut then i'd be paying around 120 a year.
 
When I had my hair really short, I used to cut it myself, but I usually ended up with patches that were longer than the rest, no matter how many times I ran the clippers over them. Now I just go to the barber once a year or so to get the split ends trimmed.

My hair is like Elvin's, it looks good if you let it grow, so I get a haircut every two or three months. I've tried to cut it myself but I always wind up fucking it up. Then I have to go to the barber all embarrassed because I tried to cut it myself. :D
 
I tried....I failed and just buzzed my hair instead. I then started going the the barber regularly lol.

It looks like I'm the only mathematician in this thread, because at $10 every 2 weeks you're saving $240 a year by cutting it yourself, not $120.
 
Been cutting my hair for years. Started with one of those razor comb things. Now I use electric clippers. Shampoo, blow dry, and cut with a comb guide in the direction the hair grows. A great clip every time.
 
Well see, I'm a hairstylist and I wouldn't even attempt to cut my own hair! It's just way too complicated of a cut with way too many angles to cut by myself! Now I color and style my hair regularly, but NEVER cut! I tried to razor my bangs one time and I ended up one swipe away from no bangs at all! :P

My stylist and I have an agreement. I'm her stylist and she's mine!
 
I've been cutting my hair for about a year. I was mainly too lazy to go to the barbershop and wait in line. And it's free now. The hard part is the bald fade. I'm still working on that.
 
I buzz it once a month with a No. 1 comb. I do all the hair on my head. As a matter of fact I'm going to be doing it today.
 
I have cut my own hair for years now. It takes a good hand mirror and steady hands. I decided to try this after years of having to fix my haircut after paying $15 for it. I keep my hair pretty short on the sides and back. I just use the guards on that and it is pretty simple now. The top can be tricky depending on how long I keep it. The hardest part is blending the short sides and back to the longer top. Luckily I have learned how to do that too.

The funny thing is, I don't think I would do such a good job if I cut someone else's hair. I am so used to how the angles look on the mirrors.

When my hair was down to my jaw, I trimmed it myself, too. I don't want to spend a lot of money on a hair cut, and the $10-20 places are all crap. I'ts short now, and I cut it myself. It took about 5 hours and positioning mirrors all around me. The top and sides were easy, though, only about an hour. The back was a bitch. The only really bad thing was that I kept cutting my fingers with the sheers.
