Have you ever kept the fortune from a fortune cookie?

I do. Those I hope come true, and those I feel that will.

Odd for a guy that doesn’t believe in that kind of thing.

Yes, after I started my current job 3 years ago, I got one that I thought was appropriate. While the statement in it hasn't happened yet, I know it will soon enough.

No, but my sister and her friends used to save all of them. They posted them on the bathroom door of their suite under the heading "in bed..."

"Confucius say: lovers in triangle not on square."

And my favorite one, I got in Kindergarten: "Happy 50th Anniversary."

I was like wut.

I saved one and is taped to my desk

" Don't give up, the best is yet to come"

I firmly believe it will.

A friend did and she played the numbers in the lotto and won $105,000 it was lucky for her.

I always get the same ones, I have had this one about 5 times...

'A hug is the perfect gift, one size fits all :)'

I save them all the time. In fact, I have one in my wallet that says "You will inherit money from an unexpected source." It's very tantalizing, trying to second-guess who has money to leave that I wouldn't be expecting.

I also have one taped to my monitor at work that says "You will achieve your goal this year." I was considering a job opportunity when it came so it was a very cheering sentiment; I didn't get that job, so now it makes me try to think of another goal.

Whenver I get a fortune that I like, or which amuses me, I keep it (my all-time favorite: "Buy new shoes tomorrow"). I once found a fortune album at a stationery shop, it was like a photo album but with tiny little plastic sleeves just the right size for cookie fortunes... I wish I'd bought it, I can't find another one.

Sure I have. Some I have until I did not "believe" any more. BUt, I'll then get another and save it again. I can dream with the best of them.

actually, I have a little tiny three-drawer "dresser" with japanese designs on it. the top drawer is full of fortunes from cookies.

I haven't kept any fortune cookies since I got one that said I would die a painful and horrific death.

:(

Not a great after dinner thought. Never heard of fortune cookies having bad messages. Odd.

Leave it to me to get a bad fortune. Whoever typed it must have been in a pissy mood that day

Only once -- and it was recent. The fortune said, "You Look Pretty." It made me laugh. I wanted to show it to my lover, but I lost it.

I used to have a nice collection kept pinned to my bulletin board. Last time I moved, they disappeared somewhere.

Now I mostly keep ones that seem hilarious -- the last was "You will get the promotion you've been hoping for."

I was self-employed....

I'm Chinese, and I can tell you that i haven't seen any fortune cookies in any restaurants in China--we have cookies that taste like fortune cookies, but it's not in that shape.

Therefore, typically I just enjoy the cookies, and skip the fortunes.

So its a non Chinese thing?

^ sorta. I mean in the Chinese culture that spawned in the US, fortune cookies are everywhere. When you go to China, you don't really see them at all.

It's still Chinese, just not from China.......
