So back in July I rented a car and drove to Jersey. I came back early Monday morning because I had a morning class I didn't want to miss. Apparently at 6:34 AM, I didn't pay a toll. I know I didn't floor it when it was my turn to go up. I probably did, though since I was running on little sleep. XD

So has anyone ever been fined for not paying toll?

Luckily the fee isn't bad...just kind of makes me wonder what I missed. Oh, and I was awake enough to know that I didn't mistakenly go into the EZ Pass lane -.-

I've been caught before (on camera), but I promise you I threw 75 cents in that toll booth that day. Next thing I know I got a fine in the mail for 35$ with a still picture of my car. I throw each coin in one at a time now.

One time I put a pillow in my passenger seat with a baseball cap and jacket on it so I could use the HOV lanes during rush hour near dark ~ as I was in a hurry to get to a concert that I would have been late for stuck in the traffic jam on Shirley Highway (I-395). Unfortunately a state cop saw me pull onto the HOV lane ramp which required at least 2 people in the car and I got a big fucking fat ticket. I told him next time I would get a mannequin or something better than a pillow.

While I don't have an EZ-pass, I would never skip paying a toll as it is expensive in MA. Our speeding tickets are cheap ($100 flat fee for 10mph over limit and $10 for every mile after the fee. Yes, you can legally go up to 10mph over the posted limit and not get fined in MA; a citation yes but cops don't care unless you are recklessly driving) but it's $50 for not paying the toll on I-90 and a ridiculous $250 fine if you don't pay the tunnel toll in Boston/Logan Airport (TY Big Dig!).

While on vacation out west, Oklahoma or Kansas can't remember which. I off got the road to get gas, I missed the entrance ramp afterwards and drove down the access road because I could see another ramp down the road.

This entrance didn't have a toll plaza, so I got back on the road with paying the toll. I figured I'd have a ticket waiting when I got home, but it never came.

SC only has two toll roads...so it's not like it's something drive on everyday.

Indirectly - me and a former friend went on a BIG road trip to New York and after paying a couple of tolls in GA and SC, decided, we're not doing that shit anymore and ran every other toll after that.

Unfortunately, we tried that shit on the way out of New York and got stopped quick. Apparently, they take that running a toll business super seriously. No ticket(that cop was nice as hell), but still, we decided not to push our luck anymore.

^LOL, wow.

I've never passed through a toll so I've never had the 'opportunity' to not pay, but I have used the HOV lane by myself just long enough to pass people holding up the fast lane. If slower traffic would keep right....

You are such a rebel. LOL

I-88 to I-90 is free but you still have to get a toll ticket and then turn it in. One time I gave my toll ticket to my 86 year old father to hold for the 8 mile free ride. By the time we got to the booths, he had lost the ticket!!!???!!! I was very perplexed but the attendant was sympathetic and said that it was not uncommon for people to lose their tickets. He had me fill out a form and let me go.

And on I-90 from Syracuse to Albany there used to be a spot that had no fence and there was another road that paralleled the thruway that came within a 50 feet or so of the thruway. My brother would always hop off there when he was riding his motorcycle. He's got a large collection of toll tickets.

Oh, sorry I thought the thread was, "Have you ever not paid at the troll?

But seriously, :clown: I went through an "open road" tollbooth with my rent-a-car. Force of habit led me to a $15.00 charge from rental company as well as a penalty from the bureau of tolls (no I-Pass). Fortunately, I was smart enough to tell both how stupid I was and I was let off the hook in both cases. #-o

Would you consider a blow-up doll?

There are not too many toll roads down here, but I did spend three year up in Connecticut. I always threw the money in the basket and kept moving. Once, the money bounced out in which I had to get out of the cat and pick it up off the ground. The guy behind me had a scowl on his face.

I was driving in Japan, over the Pearl Bridge if I remember correctly, and they wanted something like $35 for the toll. I was jet lagged, driving on the weird side, and only had ¥10,000 bills which the machines wouldn't take, so I said "fuck it" and drove thru, assuming I'd get a big fine / ticket in the mail. I got nothing.

I run them regularly in the USA, and just expense them on my expense acct when the $3 fare bill gets charged to my rental car credit card.
