  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Have you ever walked out of a movie 'cause it sucked?

Only once, in a long life.

It was a film by John Cassavetes called Faces. Waste of both time and money.

I've never been able to sit through a John Cassavettes movie, try as I might. So tedious! They don't qualify as walk-outs for me, though. More like change-the-channel.

We walked out on Wolf Creek after an hour of absolutely Fuck all happening. Apparently it all kicks off five minutes after we left but there's no way I'm watching it again.

I walked out on You Don't Mess With the Zohan or whatever it was called and I fell asleep during The World is not Enough, but that was because I was actually really tired.. I have no idea if it was a bad movie or not.

I guess I'm one of the few here that liked Lost in Translation, I thought it was a really good movie. :-)

Brosnan's second best Bond film, in my opinion (only behind Goldeneye).

Luckily living in the middle of nowhere means I rarely go to the cinema, and when I do I usually know if the movie will be good (saw Inglourious Basterds twice in a fortnight, for example, loved it). Although Transformers 2... wow. The only reason I didn't leave was because my dad took me to see it and I would've felt terrible walking out.

My friend and I DESPERATELY wanted to walk out of Rob Zombie's Halloween 2. (Quite possibly the worst film I've ever seen, btw.) The only thing that stopped us was that, while waiting on line for the movie, we'd run into an attractive guy we knew and invited him to sit with us, lol.

When I was in college in 1976, my roommate wanted to see Ilsa, She Wolf of the SS...

I made it all the way through that one. Pretty rough movie. 100 % grindhouse movie.

And it was made in 1974!

I saw it listed on NetFlix and I've thought about putting it in my queue just out of curiosity, to see what else I missed.

Knowing my roommate, he was probably thinking we were going to a soft-core porn film. Boy, were we in for a shock!

I can still remember what my roommate said as we sat there watching shocking scene after shocking scene. Something had just happened on the screen, and he'd had his fill. I was staring wide-eyed at the screen, hugging my popcorn and Coke, sliding down in the chair, cringing at what I was seeing, when he grabbed my arm, and pulled me out of my seat. Pointing at the screen, he said in a voice loud enough for everyone around us to hear, 'WHAT THE HELL!? What is this shit?!"

I just looked on Wikipedia and saw it listed. Here's their synopsis of the plot:

It starred Dyanne Thorne as "Ilsa," commandante of a Nazi Stalag (prisoner-of-war camp); the maliciousness of her character was very loosely based on that of Ilse Koch. Ilsa conducts sadistic scientific experiments designed to demonstrate that women are more capable of enduring pain than men are, and therefore should be allowed to fight in the army. Ilsa is also portrayed as a buxom woman with a voracious sexual appetite for men. Every night she chooses another one of her male prisoners and rapes him. However, due to her insatiable hunger, she gets disappointed when her current victim eventually ejaculates, and promptly has him castrated. Only an American prisoner, who can withhold ejaculating, manages to use her weakness to his favor.

No wonder we walked out!

 Ned! I love the part about you hugging your popcorn and coke. Where did you go to college? I first saw it in Los Angeles in the early 1980s .

I went to college in Washington, D.C. I saw the film during my first year in college in 1975.

In my earlier post, I said that after we left the theater, we went into a different one and saw the remake King Kong. I just looked on IMDB.com and it says King Kong wasn't released until 1976. So I don't know what the other movie was that we saw. Don't have a clue. But apparently it didn't make as much of an impression on me as Ilsa did.

I've never done it...
I usually sleep when I don't like it
