Yep! One of my college buds, and I, would jump in the car on weekends, pick a general direction, then take whatever roads looked interesting. When we figured it was time to go back, we'd pull out the map (the paper foldy kind), figure out where we were, then try to plot a different way home. Discovered lots of interesting places that way! I highly recommend it!

Freshman year college. I was assigned a room with a fellow P.K. (Preacher's Kid). For some reason, that I never figured out, he seemed to dislike me right away. We never argued, fought, or anything. We simply didn't talk to each other unless we had to. Since I was elected dorm president, getting along with almost everyone else, I figured he was just a quiet jerk. At least that was better than my nemesis that lived directly across the hall. He was a loud jerk that opposed my every move. That was probably because I'd beaten him in the election.

No. Indeed, in high school, I think I even made it a point to avoid student government. I think there were representatives or something like that from (probably) the first period class of the day. I made sure I was not in the running for that. And I sure didn't run for class or school president.

The preacher kid comment above, with the loud jerk, reminded me of one P.K. who was a loud jerk. Most I knew were nice kids--at least nice most of the time. So HYE ever known a preacher's kid who was a loud jerk?

I've known bunches of P.K.s, in addition to all my cousins on Dad's side of the family. In general, most P.K.s are taught there is a private side rigorously kept apart from the public side. If they are loud jerks, it's usually only around close friends or family. It's also generally held that it's the P.K.s who are the worst in the community. I guess we have more to rebel against. However, with the public vs. private thing, we tend to be sneaky little rascals. Persuade someone else to do it. Plausible deniability. Who? ME? Nah ...
