I don't recall forgetting someone's birthday, but there was a Valentine's Day once where I was so busy that I literally had no time to shop for a present for my ex. So I went out to the drugstore the first thing on the morning of the 15th, and bought him a large red heart-shaped box of candies, which by then were marked down at 50% off. My ex was not amused.

As for cassette tape recordings, I once loved to record songs not only from CDs, but also vinyl records as well, that I would play on the tape deck in my car. I loved it, because then I could listen to the songs I liked, and ONLY the songs I liked. When you play albums that you buy, there always seems to be a couple of songs you don't particularly care for, and commercial radio is even worse, often playing nothing you want to listen to. That is, if you can even find a song, since they all play commercials for 10 minutes straight, and I got tired of flipping through the channels the whole time I was taking a short trip. Fuck that.

Hey Johnnie I can totally relate with what you said about recording . I was friends with a lady who passed away 24 years ago , she'd record cassetttes for me from vynils . I chose the tracks I liked and she did a good job , I would listen to my cassettes in my walkman while riding my bike , when I got a stereo that same year I began buying CD's and I began making my mix tapes with my favorite tracks . I loved it ...

I can't answer the question as I never had a boyfriend or hubby but If I had one I would be very finicky with the present I'd give him as I am good with dates , I recall each person I consider sort of important in my world and I recall most birthdays and if I don't recall the birthday I always learn their zodiac signs
