Have you ever...

I didn't like Raiders of the Lost Ark when I first saw it. I think I was put off by the main character's badass personality and his indiscriminately killing people. Interestingly, my best gay friend at the time had a similar reaction (no, we didn't see it together). I later liked Raiders II and III, so I went back and watched the first Raiders several years later. And wouldn't you know it, I had a completely different reaction: I liked it! I'm not sure what changed, maybe I had resolved the issues that made me dislike the movie when I saw it the first time, or maybe I understood and was more willing to accept the pretense of the movie (if you're not willing to accept the pretense of a movie or show, the rest of it isn't going to be meaningful).

Have you ever been to a high school or college reunion? Do you have any desire to go?

I went to my high school reunion just last year. Before the reunion, I spent a lot of time scanning old memorabilia and digitizing round reel recordings of shows and concerts to bring back to life our high school years. I posted everthing on the reunion Facebook page. However, when I went to reunion events I felt very much alone and out of place. I don't deal well with crowds or around people I don't really know. There were 1300 people in my high school class. I hardly knew any of them then. It was a three day event. I skipped the main event the last day because I felt so self-conscious, and because of Covid. At the previous nights event which was outside but packed in a small area, literally no one expect me wore a mask. I was not taking the chance at an indoor event. It was traumatic.

Have you ever learned a foreign language, or wanted to?

I learned some Spanish in middle and high school, but it's barely conversational. I would like to become more fluent in that and maybe French.

Have you ever been suspended or expelled from school?

Yes. was suspended for three weeks in my last year at High School for punching and breaking a Priests nose at the Catholic School I was going to. He deserved it and way more.

H Y E regretted not asking a guy out when you had the chance? (yes )

Oh Yes! Which story do you want me to tell?

Have you ever tried to see a phenomenon in the sky (an eclipse, a comet, a conjunction, a rocket launch, etc.), only to be unable to see it because it was obscured by clouds?

Several lunar eclipses due to clouds. But I've seen several as well so it is no big deal. Otherwise, no. However, the solar eclipse on Aug 21, 2017 came right over St. Louis and I had a perfect view of it. It was one of the most incredible things I've even seen. Seeing in person a total solar eclipse is nothing like what you see on TV. Seeing a total solar eclipse was a top bucket list event.

Following up on that, Have you ever fulfilled any buckets lists?

To tell you the truth, I've never made up a bucket list for. myself, because most of the things I'd want to do would likely be off-limits due to logistical or monetary concerns, or would involve intangibles I couldn't very well control, like I'd long for another long-term relationship before I die sort of things.

Have you ever taught in school, or wanted to be a schoolteacher?

Not taught. I thought about it when I was much younger but decided it was a bad idea.

Have you ever had a premonition of something that later came to pass?

When I was 8 or 9, I had a couple of dreams that came true. Nothing profound, really, just rather ordinary occurrences.

Several weeks before the 2016 election, I found myself extremely worried, to the point I was watching guided meditation videos to calm my nerves. Looking back on it, I think I was picking up that Trump was going to win it.

In the past I've followed certain sports teams closely. Sometimes I would get an uneasy feeling they were going to lose a game, even when the records and the way they were playing would suggest they should have no trouble with the game, and sure enough, I would be right.

Have you ever seen a UFO?

I tried a few times but it's been a long time now

Have you ever raised farm animals? (like chickens, rabbits, sheep...)

No. I had a dog, several cats, and two parakeets as a kid, and I've had several cockatiels, a couple of parakeets, and a cat as an adult, but I've never had any farm animals.

Is there any one animal that speaks to you in particular, as in it seems to embody your personality or qualities you admire, or you collect picture, tchotchkes, etc.?

Hmmm... I would consider myself cat-like in that I enjoy my solitude. If I feel like being sociable then I will, but I like being in my own company most of the time.

Have you ever ridden on a camel?

No, I can't say that I have, but I bet camels can be interesting animals. They have an intelligent, smart-ass look on their faces, I bet they can be quite the pranksters!

Have you ever seen rhinoceroses (or any other zoo or farm animals) having sex?

I remember when I was, maybe 12, 13, 14, going to the monkey house at the zoo and one of the monkeys was jerking off, I think I remember a couple of the other males had hard-ons. They weren't hung very well. lol.

Have you ever won any money in a Lottery?

Only on television. Never in person.

Have you ever eaten an entire carton of ice cream in one sitting?

No, unless it's something like Ben & Jerry's, which are in those small buckets, but those are not a full carton.

Have you been part of a protest or demonstration? Do you consider yourself an activist?

No, but there are causes I'm passionate about in my own way.

Have you ever taken someone to task for making racist, sexist or homophobic comments or jokes in your company?
