Have you ever...

Not directly, but I suspect that I may have been shown in the crowds at Pride Parades or local demonstrations I have participated in. Someone told me that I appeared on a local TV station in high school, in connection to the band selling tickets for some event.

Have you ever been approached by someone who thought you were an expert or knowledgeable on some subject or topic, even though you didn't think you were? If so, how did it go?

I was a computer programmer and I.T. specialist before I retired. Now, everyone expects me to know how to use every application on their computer. I can usually fix stuff they screw up, but I don't know how every single application ever written works.

Have you ever tried to do something you thought was nice and considerate for someone, but they rejected it?

Yep. Offered a nude massage to a str8 guy... totally refused.

Have you ever had a straight guy hit on you?

Yeah, I've had a couple of "straight" guys hit on me. I had a college roommate that gave off vibes that he was interested before I came out. You could cut the sexual tension with a knife, but the situation was too ambiguous. I prefer a situation like that to be clear, or at least for there to be the freedom of communication to clarify what's going on. And I've had a "straight" guy come up to me and start kissing me and hugging me out of the blue without warning. WTF!!??? That was definitely not pleasant!

Have you ever tried to be a fashionista, or did you try to avoid being overly fashion-conscious?

All the time! I used to go to buffet restaurants and pot luck dinners all the time, and I'd stuff myself. If the food's put in front of me I find it hard to stop. But I haven't found myself in that situation much in the age of Covid, which is a good thing.

Have you ever volunteered on the campaign of a candidate or an issue on the ballot?

The most I ever do is donate money, and put up yard signs. I do that a lot. I am not good at things that require personal interaction, like phone calls and door-to-door.

Have you ever supported and/or voted for a candidate but later regretted it? I'm ashamed to say I voted for Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan, and I donated to John Edwards in 2008 who turned out to be a creep.

No I never did

Have you ever been involved in a car accident?

There was one time I was driving home after visiting my cousin, and I was on the Interstate in South Florida. On the way back a shower moved in off the ocean and caused a deluge. A van had hit a bridge abutment ahead, and my lane had to stop. All of a sudden I got rear-ended by another car. Fortunately I wasn't hurt, but it demolished the back end of the car, though I was able to drive away. The guy that hit me had to be towed.

As for regretting a vote, there was a woman who courted the gay vote for a mayor, or city commission seat, I don't remember which, who once in office turned on us, and actively supported a ballot effort to repeal the human rights ordinance which had passed just a couple of years before. Fortunately that effort failed. By then I had moved to another city, but she lost in the next election.

Have you ever given in to pressure from a salesman employing high pressure tactics, or for that matter, been able to resist? How did that turn out?

I've had some salesman come on strong, but no amount of pressure from them caused me to give in to buying something that I didn't really want.

Have you ever suffered from insomnia?

All my life. These days I've gotten so used to it that I don't fight it anymore. If I wake up at 3:00 in the morning, I just get up and have my breakfast, fruit and coffee or whatever, and just start the day. If I lie awake, trying to force myself to go back to sleep, my mind just goes into current worries, bad memories and recriminations, and so on. It's not pleasant, so it's better to get up and do something else. Why fight a losing battle over some general idea that insomnia is unhealthy and that I need my sleep, when it's just not going to come?

Have you ever been on medications to the point you were uncomfortable with it?

I did have relatively mild side effects from my first two Covid shots, and hardly noticed any from the booster. In the past I've had unwanted sexual side effects from Zoloft. One medication I had unpleasant side effects to the point that I refused to take it was something called Niaspan, which was basically a megadose of niacin to lower cholesterol. It would cause me to itch and burn something fierce, and causing me to lose sleep. After trying it a couple of times, I decided that it just wasn't worth it, especially for some vague goal of getting some numbers lower. I mean, it was torture.

Have you ever had to have operations?

I presume you mean in one sitting. I'll have to think about it, but I don't think I've eaten a whole bag of potato chips or tortilla chips in one setting. Though I've certainly eaten a lot at one time. There have been parties where I've eaten a large amount of several kinds of chips that were all available, so I may well have eaten the EQUIVALENT of a whole bag of chips. And there's plenty of added calories when you add in the onion dip, salsa, nacho cheese dip, etc.

Have you ever been a regular bike rider, whether for exercise or leisure, or as a necessity to get around?

When I was much younger, I only lived about eight blocks from where I worked. I used to ride a bicycle to work, except in the Winter.

Have you ever done your own painting inside your house?

No, I never have. My father did all the house painting when I was a kid, both inside and out, but I lived in apartments most of my adult life, so it wasn't my responsibility. Now that I'm older now and own my own house, I know I won't have the stamina to do the job now. So I'm going to have to hire painters to do it for me.

Do you do your own yard work (mowing, cutting and pruning, planting, etc.)?

The closest I can do is arrange the flower pots on my balcony... but I would if I had to

Have you ever cut wood with an axe?

Yes, I used to chop firewood when we went camping

Have you ever been camping?

Yes, I went camping out West for two months in Geology Field Camp in college.

Have you ever had an unusual pet (spider, snake, armadillo, etc.)?
