Have you ever...

Yes. Several big Southern California quacks.

HYE been in a hurricane?

Yes, I have gone through 4 full-fledged hurricanes and numerous near-misses in my lifetime. Irma in 2017, David in 1979, and Cleo and Isbell, both in 1964. I'd might as well add Wilma in 2005, I was in Tampa which wasn't hit, but I had to come back to West Palm because my mother got injured in that one. So I had to live through the aftermath of that one. Having to visit my mother in the hospital, driving around with traffic lights out, dealing with days with no power, having to eat FEMA dinners, etc.

Have you ever gone through a natural disaster, such as a flood, tornado, or other disaster?

I experienced a major hurricane nearly 14 years ago. Aside from having little to no power for almost a week, needing to replace the shingles on my roof and repairing a fence, I came out of it physically fine.

Have you ever witnessed, but not personally experienced, a serious accident?

To answer your question, I'm going to repost answer #3668

There are two serious crashes that come to mind. The first was in my teens. I was riding with my father on a Saturday night. A car was trying to make a left across a busy highway, and had stopped at the median, with the rear sticking out into the traffic lane. For some reason I looked back after we passed that car. I saw a pickup hit the back of that car, and I saw two bodies rise up in the pickup, illuninated by the headlights of a vehicle behind them. I could tell the driver fell out of the pickup, and the passenger fell back in the seat after apparently hitting the windshield.

The second was a car that either lost control or was hit, that went airborne and tumbled end-over-end in the median of a busy interstate. Several cars stopped to help, so I figured that I'd only get in the way, and drove on.

Thee were two times that I came across a dead person just after an accident had taken place. The first was a man who apparently lost control on a slick road. The car was off the road, with only two wheels on the ground, windshield wipers still going, and the person's head was outside the passenger window on top of a wall, not moving.

The other one was when I saw a man lying in the road shortly after being hit by a hit-and-run driver.

Do you believe in an afterlife?

You can either answer the question posed in the quoted post, or how about this one-- Have you ever seen or experienced something that was just too uncanny to be random?

I'll answer the afterlife question since it's something I've been thinking about quite a bit lately (and I'll ask your second question again).

I do believe in the afterlife. I like to believe we'll be reunited in heaven with those we've lost, but (and this might sound awful) I really hope there's a hell and those who spent their lives bringing unimaginable torment and suffering to others are punished for all eternity. I remember someone saying that simply ceasing to exist after death is the ultimate punishment, but I strongly disagree with that. That's getting off scot free and where's the justice in that?

No

Have you ever been driving and a car passes cause your doing the speed limit and then they get pulled over by a cop?

I probably have, but I don't recall anything specific right now. Though I do recall an incident probably back in the 90s, when I was driving a busy I-75 in North Florida. This young punk driving a Dodge Daytona-type car with North Carolina plates passed me, and it was obvious he was furious or upset about something. My first thought was that the guy was going to cause an accident. Sure enough, about a minute later, I came across that car and several others, all hit and banged up, but looking like the damage was minor and nobody was hurt, fortunately.

Have you ever had an extended period in your life where you lived without a car, either voluntarily, or because of life circumstances?

Not for an extended period of time, but 10 years ago I had to hitch a ride to work with a friend while my car was being worked on and that was the longest, most painful week of my life. I had to endure Ke$ha's debut album twice a day and just seeing her name or hearing any reference to that Tik Tok song makes me rock back and forth in the corner humming a spiritual.

Have you ever come across a childhood photo of yourself and thought "Yep, I was most definitely gay!"? (Mine was of me at 12 cheesing from ear to ear while proudly showing off this Christmas present: 71vGjOptO3L._SL1500_.jpg)

There are quite a few pictures of me in the family album (now MY album, since I'm the only "family" left) when I was a child. I grew up in South Florida, and the photos that most give me away are those of me holding tropical hibiscus flowers, or wrapping the flowered branches around me.

Were there any times when you were very young, when you look back on them, that make you go "Damn, I really made my sexuality clear to the person/people there," even though you may not have realized you were giving yourself away at the time?

Sometimes I wanted a sibling, but I probably would've made their lives hell since I loved my alone time growing up and they would've pestered the crap outta me.

Have you ever had to move back in with your parents after leaving home?

No, but I'd like to be married one day.

Have you ever been the best man at a wedding?

No, I've never been in a wedding party.

Have you ever found yourself praying in desperation, though you didn't particularly believe in it (or perhaps you did)? Did it seem like the prayer was answered? Or perhaps things later turned out the way you wanted, but you don't think your prayer had anything to do with the results?

Yes, the prayer was answered, but not in the way I expected or initially wanted. It worked out for the best though.

Have you ever been so burned by love that you let a potential love interest pass you by?

Yeah, I've been burned by love a number of times. Lately though I haven't even been actively looking. It seems that I can't be bothered dealing with people who want me to be what they want, but couldn't care less about my needs. Or deal with other people's games and craziness. I keep telling myself that I'm too old for that shit. I'm willing to wait it out until someone who could be a good person for me comes along.

Have you ever had the experience of someone rejecting you for no good reason that you could see?

All the time. I've been rejected for making chicken soup for a guy I was supposedly dating when he was sick. I don't even try anymore.

Have you ever binge-watched an entire series, from beginning to end, in one sitting?

Yes, but it was more like two and a half sittings. Last year I reconnected with a show I used to watch with my mom growing up called Any Day Now while channel surfing so I headed over to YouTube and spent the rest of the weekend watching all four seasons. I highly recommend checking it out since its themes about race and other important social issues are even more relevant today than they were 20 years ago.

Have you ever disliked a show during its initial run, but enjoyed it the second time around?

The Closest I can come to this is The Twilight Zones episodes. The show had its original run when I was a young kid, and I didn't understand what was going on. But when I saw the reruns of the episodes as an adult, I enjoyed them because I found the episodes thought provoking and interesting.

Have you ever read Dr. Raymond Moody's or other books on near death experiences (NDEs)? If so, what did you think of them? Do you believe they are real? (I wanted to ask, have you ever had a near-death experience, but I doubt that many people on here have).
