I think it actually happened only once, when my car stalled in a busy intersection. I think I was able to get it started again, and then called AA from a nearby parking lot. That takes me back to the days I was literally too poor to take care of myself. These days I usually refuel whenever the indicator goes below 1/4 tank, because gas goes quickly at that point. But in the past I had to put off putting gas in the tank until I got my paycheck, and even then, all the money was already answered for before I even got it. Those were the days that I had to float checks by sending them in the mail, trying to calculate that I'd have the money in my bank account by the time they received it, but they'd get it before I incurred any late fees. It became a real balancing act, having to figure out everything to the last penny. I'd have to figure out groceries, and having enough for lunch money at work, and I really needed to fill my tank, but I only had $3-$4 for gas. I literally didn't have $10 to spare to go out with friends to a restaurant or for drinks on a Friday night. Sorry for the rant.
