I'll answer the last two questions together. No, I have never disowned a family member. But I did have an abusive father growing up. But he backed off big time when I as a teen, well let's just say I made it clear that I had no qualms about taking him out if necessary. He didn't cause me any shit after that, but I felt compelled to maintain a distant relationship with him due to being financially dependent and needing the money for college, etc. He even showed signs of wanting to be friendly as I got older, but the damage had been done.
