well i didn't really have to join. In Boston I go to this place called the MALE center. Just a place where you can go, sit, read a magazine, whatev. There are some events planned like socials, movie nights and guides to gay life in Boston. It's a nice place, though not a lot of people show up.

I did, years ago. It was a total waste of time.
Few guys were there pushing for a very millitant gay agenda.
Few other dudes were simple chickenhawks, who paraded around with fancy 'President, Vice-President, etc. titles' trying to impress the aforementioned chicken.
It was both very boring and very useless, so I moved on and I have been having a ball ever since.

I just came back from my university's glbt group. Not really a social club but more of a discussion group. Everyone there is out of the closet so I still feel pretty out of place. Oh and I'm painfully shy so that sucks too.
But the discussion was interesting even though I was way too shy to say anything. I'll probably keep going since I need to get out of my room once in a while.

Dude, that was one o fhte best parties ever. The food, the music, the men, the beer and the fact that we were all hanging out together in a town with about as many people as we had with us.

Although I'm not a very social person, I do belong to a gay bowling league.
There are many options for meeting people in my area, from gay and lesbian community centers, supper groups, Sunday brunches, which I attend once in a while. They can be fun, or boring...all depends on the group there at that time.
