I made a big pot of chilli con carne earlier, had a huge bowl of it for my tea and will freeze the rest for during the week.

Why make it when it comes in a can? I found some at Walmart that has big chunks of real beef and vegetables in a thick, rich gravy. Delicious! Weird I found it in the pet department, but my hair has never looked healthier.

I just made a batch of cottage pies for the freezer
They join the chicken and leek pies I made last week.
It is about time I started ot make soup as well
I need a bigger freezer

Yeah it hit 94 again today so I'm eating cold sandwiches and salads for the next week

Just tonight, as a matter of fact, regardless of the fact that our thermometer exploded at a balmy 67F for a high. Lol ... reminds me of making potato salad - very simplistic recipe. but a time-consuming process! Just to go one over, I also made drop biscuits! I save the yeast biscuits for holidays ... ugh, having to prepare, smash down, and allow to rise again.

So far turkey chili and chicken rice soup. Love the onslaught of the fall and winter. :)

Not until October, usually.

But funny this came up. For dinner tonight, we are having a prime rib beef stew that has been in the freezer.

And it looks like we may be having it a few days this week.

It was in the 90s here today so I was thinking more of a cool salad. Or a fresh peach. Or homegrown tomatoes.

So this evening, it is a turkey stew of sorts.

Was just at the butcher shop today and noticed they had a bunch of stew meat on sale. I'm thinking of making myself a big pot later this week.

Our average high here in the middle of the USA where i live is 82F degrees in September. However it was cooler and wetter last month (typically 1 of our 2 hottest months of the year) and this month it has been in the mid-90's. We usually don't get any rain in June, July, and August. By the end of October it will be light jacket weather. I don't typically make soups or stews according to seasons.
