Gosh, the thought of being relegated to my seat for any large length of time doesn't sit well with me - no pun intended. However, I think it would be safe. Why would it not be safe?

I much prefer the train over the bus as I can walk around. Though it seems that travelling by train is a luxury as it's more expensive than air travel. Oh, and for some odd reason, it's cheaper to go from Chicago to Seattle than it is to go from Chicago to New York.

I got to Florida on greyhound.

Yes, it's safe.

No, I don't care for it - I don't like long needless layovers, and being stuck in Alabama for no real reason for 3 hours after midnight with no arcades or casinos was not my idea of fun.

Not since I was three. My mother and I took a Trailways bus from Tampa to Jacksonville. It was a little bit of heaven.

Let's hear it for big silver bird! ..|

I haven't. But maybe she might consider taking a train if she is not comfortable with the bus. I've heard that it's really enjoyable.

I went on a Greyhound bus like two or three years ago. It was not so great. We traveled for almost 24 hours and having to change buses a lot was a pain, also sometimes when you were last to get on the bus you had to sit next to someone you didn't want to sit next to.

I think it was a ride from Oregon to California where there were these rednecks who smelt like BO and stared at me for about 90% of the trip it was like "Really what the fuck are you looking at?"

I think it was the first time when we were traveling from California to Oregon, it was really dark probably like 4am in the morning. Boyfriend likes to get naughty so he wanted me to give him a hand job right there, thankfully it was dark in the bus and everyone was asleep but I am sure there were a few who were awake.

I've never been on a Greyhound bus, but I've heard mixed stories about it. I can imagine it's more luxurious than riding a damn school bus, which I did almost my entire educational career, but it would still be a pain. I get very antsy on long car trips, even if I'm driving.

They make stops sometimes at fast food joints or gas stations, then when they change buses they will do it at a Greyhound stop. I guess it's good way to travel but the seats are sort of uncomfortable, sometimes you'll get a newer bus and sometimes you'll get one of the retro buses that have terrible seats and not enough leg room. I will take driving in your own car over a Greyhound bus, sometimes even flying but I guess it's best to do where you get one one plane and land in the area you're going.

One time we took a plane from Seattle to Ontario, California and we ended up having to hold our stuff because all of the overhead storage was taken up. So we hid our stuff under our seats and the dumb flight attendants were like "You need to put those with checked bags" then told them they were carry on bags. But can't beat the price for $50 bucks, cause using gas is a lot of fucking money.

good grief -- I didn't know Greyhound -- or bus lines were still in business.

I rode one ONCE, when i was 12 years old - from California to New York City -- I enoyed the first day -- then things turned bad -- by the time we hit Chicago my ass was sooo sore !!! By the time we got to New York I thought I was gonna die -- it took days for the "redness" of my raw ass cheeks/crotch to begin to feel better.
We met a couple with a little boy who sat next to us -- we talked to them the whole trip -- Years later - I met relatives of theirs when i moved 6000 miles away - go figure..

Not terribly interested in taking a long road trip of any kind --- don't really wanna be more than 2 hours away from a bathroom --- okay -- or a pee bottle !! Hey - old peeps gotta go what can I say...........

I used a pee bottle when we started going me traveling from California to Oregon, it was so great until I started to fill up the one pee bottle but had to go out and buy a secondary one just in case we didn't have any where to stop to dump the pee. FUN TIMES.

This was many moons ago. Actually, both of my parents and I took the train a la compartment back to Chicago. Very nice. Those were the days! ;)

i remember taking the greyhound about 10 years ago to mexico. i still see them in the freeway every now and then, but only scarcely do i see them, or what looks to be one.

I couldn't imagine my self going on a bus cross country a few hours would be fine and hopefully the bus would have wifi for a laptop or tablet.

A few years ago I was in America for a few conferences, and at one stage I took a Greyhound from Indiana to Missouri. It was comfortable enough, but I did get to rub shoulders with all sorts of folk: a bunch of raving black Christians all shouting about the bible, and a sprinkling of a few lost souls who all looked seedy beyond belief. I'm not a big one for bus journeys generally; I prefer trains if a plane can't be taken.

I took one years ago. It was ghetto as hell and I ended up sitting next to a guy and girl who met on the bus and the chick gave the guy a blowjob during the ride.

I ride Greyhound fairly often.

Their casino service to Atlantic City is the route I most often take...but last November I took their Express service roundtrip from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh...and paid less than $5. They have some great deals if you book ahead, especially on the routes they've designated Express.

Last August I made the return trip from Portland, OR, to Norristown, PA, on Greyhound. (I flew out.) I did stop for a couple days in Denver, which was a great idea. (Denver and I have a love affair...and breaking up the trip made sense.)There were a few states in between that I had never seen before..

I'd consider Greyhound a fairly safe means of travel. Traveling light will help; it's not easy to be laden with several bags.

Some stations are better than others. I think the worst Greyhound station is Kansas City. It's isolated in a desolate part of town. Depressing. Columbus, OH, might give you pause too...it's in an unfashionable part of downtown, although actually near the state capitol. But there are many good ones...Portland OR, Minneapolis, Pittsburgh, Salt Lake City, St. Louis (to name a few).

Been many years since I let Greyhoud do the driving. Use on occasion use the bus to travel home from Kentucky to NY. Memoires of the old Greyhound station in Cleveland Ohio which today is now bathhouse.

But GamerBear there's a bathroom in the back.

Didn't you all know that? It's in the right rear.

Trivia: in the 80s you could smoke on the bus, at least in the last few rows.

There's a fetish called Agoraphilia, which someone gets turned on doing something sexual in public...

I use Greyhound sometimes. The new buses are really nice. Outlets, WiFi. Very comfortable.
