So the crop is coming off our fields...and I am both happy and sad.
Happy because it looks like a good crop this year.
Sad, because even haying is a destructive crop and we are really only contributing to a rapacious culture of resources going into meat consumption.
Also sad that when I did hay, we were all half naked, bronzed boys tossing bales onto the wagon and dying of thirsts and dust.
Now it is all huge equipment and forklifts piling bales onto the wagons departing out out lane. Just 2 people in AC controlled vehicles taking off 100 acres of round and huge square bales.
I hated haying... but my goodness, the visuals .
