HBO's Game of Thrones. ( No Book Spoilers Allowed -- Go to Hell.)

Re: A song of ice and fire: HBO's Game of Thrones

A most gracious reminder-everyone's favorite show returns tonight :gogirl:

Re: A song of ice and fire: HBO's Game of Thrones

Awesome return. Can't wait to see the rest of the season, the war should be good. Not crazy about Daenyrs storyline in this book though, so it will be interesting to see how that plays out.

Re: A song of ice and fire: HBO's Game of Thrones

its nice to see a comeback of a show that is worth watching ^^

Re: A song of ice and fire: HBO's Game of Thrones

The only negative I had about last nite was how they didn't explain well why Dany was in the middle of the Red Waste. As a reader, I know why. When Osha and Bran were talking about the comet there was no mention outside "lol dragons". Dany was actually following the comet in the book so it was a bit amusing to see them going the opposite way of it.

Re: A song of ice and fire: HBO's Game of Thrones

They are still doing a damn good job with this show and I didn't want the new episode to end! I read all the books except the last one so it's so cool to see the characters I read about come to life.

I loved how Cersei let Littlefinger know that she is the one with the power and threatened his life lol. I think they should have shown Dany a little more and maybe let her bloodriders come back before the episode was up. Other than that it was great and I can't wait to see more.

Dany's storyline is weird because she spends half the book wondering the desert and she doesn't get to Qarth until 2/3's in. I'm sure next episode will be Renley heavy as it was foretold that Catelyn is heading to his camp for an alliance which is actually about a third into the book. So the story is gonna be quite jumbled up and not follow the book quite so well chronologically but I'm sure they will still hit all the key points.

Re: A song of ice and fire: HBO's Game of Thrones

how come there's episode 2 already?

That was so out of character for little finger .. it threw me a bit off. But I assume it was done to show how unstable and clueless Cersei is.

It was out of character for Littlefinger do something like that but IMO, Cersei responded the way she did to show she still has some power after getting told off by Tyrion and later by Joffrey. TBH, it seems far more likely that Cersei called "the hits" out on Robert's bastards and not Joffrey. She is in full-blown damage control atm and killing the bastards was a way to show said power.

Speaking of leaked episodes, apparently some Aussies got slapped with copyright infringement suits because they tweeted about watching the premier episode despite the fact that it doesn't air there until mid-April. Guess the idiom still holds true: "stupidity is hardly rewarded".

Re: A song of ice and fire: HBO's Game of Thrones

ahhhhh welcome back, jaime, jorah, & grenn. and i think gendry is joining my list ^^

oh yeah, and there is also a story. first ep mostly fulfilled my very high expectations.

quibble: robs cgi wolf didnt look so hot. they did a nice job with danis dragon, though. i wonder how much of an issue the cgi will be in the future. i also worry a bit that the sheer quantity of plot and characters will smother the atmosphere too much. but my negativity stops right here; i was mostly very happy to be back in westeros.

loved the scene with cersei and littlefinger. the political intrigue aspects of the book translate the best to the screen, because they dont cost so much, and the cast is simply amazing.

back to what really matters: heres some lovely bondage, kids!

I thought they did an excellent job with the wolf! Certainly looked better than the wolves in the movie The Day After Tomorrow.

Re: A song of ice and fire: HBO's Game of Thrones

that wolf was not a CGI. that was a real wolf, composed into the scene. sadly greenscreen still is kinda difficult with fur, so it looked a bit "pasted" in. but hopefully we will see more of this.

iirc it was implied in the books that she let them get killed. but we didn't get a "first person view" of it.

Re: A song of ice and fire: HBO's Game of Thrones

I keep hoping daenerys will get more and more bad ass...

So far it looks that it will be happening.

I never read the book....

I hope dragons eat people. lmao

Re: A song of ice and fire: HBO's Game of Thrones

minor spoilers ahead... ive seen ep 2 and have read up to book 4.

wonderful 2nd episode, with overall stronger individual scenes.

arya and gendry are adorable together. i think they could have done more with this pairing in the books. their scenes together here are great, though.

loved the scenes with tyrion and janos slynt, and tyrion and cersei. its hard to care much about roz, but littlefinger is chillingly evil. those kings-landing bitches know how to read like the best on rupauls drag race!

i love how they realized the castle on pyke. its probably my favourite castle yet. im not fond of the iron islands subplot, but i like asha, and it looks like the actress is well cast. but did they give her a new name? why? i wish they had spent some more time on her... i understand why they didnt, but her introduction in the book is one of my favourite scenes.

north of the wall, john is... oh, hey there, grenn. hello. hows it goin' ... what, wait, this didnt happen in the book! exciting!

melissandre is pretty bad ass!

the producers still dont have their raging heterosexuality under control, appearantly. seriously, this was the one single problem with season one, and its disappointing that its still here. im all for nudity, but please dont be so fucking gratutious about it, and keep it equal opportunity.

and we havent even checked in on half the cast. not that i mind... i didnt miss anybody, even though at this point in the story, catlyne is one of my favourite characters. cant wait for loras, margaery, and lady olena to show up. did they already announce who the latter will be played by? if its maggy smith, ill die. oh, and brienne. exciting!

Re: A song of ice and fire: HBO's Game of Thrones

A word hylas; keep in mind that episode 2 hasn't aired yet (despite being leaked online) so talking about it is a no-no. HBO has been going after people downloading their shit aggressively, most notably in Australia where the second season hasn't even begun to air yet.

edit: Reckon the Dutch did get it a week early which I guess is a whoopsie on someone at Dutch HBO. But yeah, spoiler tags next time.

Re: A song of ice and fire: HBO's Game of Thrones

Am I a total nerd for looping the Game of Thrones opening on youtube and saving it in my Iphone? :)

Loving the show and richness of the characters. I think my favourite character is Jon Snow. There's such depth to him.
