HBO's "True Blood" [merged]

They really haven't been that good for some time now. They're cable's "Glee"... shows that started really alternative and promising but just got fucked up by the creators and writers. Too much filler and over the top and not enough common sense character development for both shows. And not many will be sorry to see them go, which is a big hint they've long overstayed their welcome. Really a shame because there are some inspirational moments but hardly worthy of seeing even those in anything but YouTube clips.

I don't watch Glee, but I agree 110% with everything you said in reference to True Blood. Really a shame, and this last season feels like the writers just gave up. So many inconsistencies and dumb characterizations. I don't think I've ever seen Eric (the oldest main character) make such idiotic choices.

I can say that I didn't really like season six very much either. There was too much going on in such little time and I was disappointed as to how Warlow's character development as well. I don't think this last season has been anything that great either and Sookie seems like she's lost that spark she once had in the earlier seasons.

I felt like the finale was all about erasing/forgiving the past and tying up loose ends. I'm good with that versus the other way round.

Now, I need a new series to enjoy as much as this one.

thought the series finale episode was long drawn out, emotionally tedious and fang-less. was not satisfying at all.

...What was up with not showing the guy who she married????

I did enjoy Sarah Newlin's punishment And Lafayette and James still being together.

CXXX..|

I liked it. They didn't show us Sookie's husband because it was no one we knew, and his face would have meant nothing.

And I didn't think they could find a fate worthy of Sarah's crimes, but they did.

And Jason never fulfilled his gay fantasy

Yes, until the advent of James I was hoping he'd end up with Lafayette. It would be terrific for that character who goes through women like a handful of raisins to end up in a monogamous (and, I'd hope, submissive) relationship with another man. I was hoping for another sex scene between James and Lafayette, but oh well.

Eric and Pam got to be manipulative money-grubbing scumbags, which is what they've always wanted to be. Once they decided to put profits over preventing the horrible deaths of millions of vampires, I started wanting them to get staked. But without them the endless torment of Sarah wouldn't be possible, so I'm torn.

That was the one part that rang false. After FOUR YEARS of that, she'd be either much more hardened or completely off the deep end.

I didn't feel that Bill's death was well supported. It seemed like it was there to give Hoyt and Jessica an excuse to get married right away. On the other hand, who doesn't like a good wedding? And I was glad they got back together.

That whole Jessica/Hoyt/Jason/wassername thing seemed hastily slapped together to me, as well as kind of obvious and predictable.

Watching Violet die was kind of nice. No one, of course, told Hoyt he'd just avenged his mother (because then they'd have to explain why Violet killed her). Actually, killing Hoyt's horrible bigoted cripplingly-abusive mother (after, remember, Maxine shot Jessica!) was the only good thing Violet ever did.

Tara's revelation was kind of disappointing. And retrospectively redeeming Lettie Mae was positively offensive. We didn't see ANY good in her for seven seasons; this bit felt tacked on, and poorly.

This season was predominately a waste of viewing time for me.

Good riddance to a show I used to be really invested to, that just lost its way.

Pam, Jessica, Tara. My 3 favorite characters.

Pam? She's had virtually NO character development over the show's entire run. She's always been Eric's side-chick/lackey & nothing else. Any growth she was showing included her time with Tara, but she was quickly forgotten.

Jessica? The Hoyt thing was SOOOOOOO beyond forced and rushed & made little to no sense but whatev. I could care less if Hoyt ever came back, let alone accept that he's cool with everything that happened between he, Jess, & Jason. Futhermore, Bill already released Jessica in Season 3 - so I don't know WTF happened there when she was released again...

Tara? Horrible use of a long-running character/actress. She deserved better. An off screen death with no payoff & whoever had the idea to switch Tara & Lettie Mae's storylines this season should be fired. Lettie Mae should have died & Tara given some relief/happiness & closure with Sookie, Lafayette, & Pam.

Eric and Pam were the only saving graces of the finale otherwise it was a wimpy mess. The convo between Sook and Bill went on forever and that grave thing seemed endless. Goodbye to all of them.

I agree. I imagine an alternate version where LM dies, and Tara's journey for the season is discovering that when LM told her her father left them, the truth was that LM shot him and buried him in the yard. That would explain LM's descent into addiction, and possibly allow Tara to forgive her for being such an awful, awful parent.

I like that way more than what we were given.

I did feel like the flashback scene between LM and her husband was pretty powerful, though, so I think if that could be kept it'd be even better. I think that it was important to see her in a different context and as a better person. A lot of people become defined by what they endure and she ended up being one of those people. It's unfortunate, but it would have been good to see that in comparison with a happier, more at peace Tara.

My version would keep that scene, but would end with Tara dropping the gun and running away, LM being struck to the ground by her abusive husband, grabbing the gun, and shooting him through the heart (or head; this is TB, after all, and they love gore).

I have to admit.....I recorded the finale and then fast forwarded during the wedding. I had no interest in that plot point.

I felt bad for Sookie but Bill's death was inevitable. After the way he treated her ( season 3,5,6) I think his death was the best way to end the show.

Coming late to the party as I only caught up on it last night. Oh thank God for Eric and Pam, they kept me entertained this whole season. I'm glad they stole the final which was a load of crap. The one thing bugged me was Willa, she was Eric's progeny therefore would she not have been with him and Pam? It also ticked me off that both Pam and Eric left Sookie's orbit I just wanted them to remain in each other's lives. So glad the wet blanket that was Bill died honestly I think the writers realised they fucked it up keeping him on the show instead of Sookie letting him go after learning the truth about him.

Well, there's office politics even on HBO shows, Irish Queer. Stephen Moyer IS Anna Paquin's husband and the father of her twins.
