Yes, until the advent of
James I was hoping he'd end up with
Lafayette. It would be terrific for that character who goes through women like a handful of raisins to end up in a monogamous (and, I'd hope, submissive) relationship with another man. I
was hoping for another sex scene between James and Lafayette, but oh well.
Eric and Pam got to be manipulative money-grubbing scumbags, which is what they've always wanted to be. Once they decided to put profits over preventing the horrible deaths of millions of vampires, I started wanting them to get staked. But without them the endless torment of
Sarah wouldn't be possible, so I'm torn.
That was the one part that rang false. After FOUR YEARS of that, she'd be either much more hardened or completely off the deep end.
I didn't feel that
Bill's death was well supported. It seemed like it was there to give
Hoyt and
Jessica an excuse to get married right away. On the other hand, who doesn't like a good wedding? And I was glad they got back together.
That whole Jessica/Hoyt/Jason/wassername thing seemed hastily slapped together to me, as well as kind of obvious and predictable.
Watching Violet die was kind of nice. No one, of course, told Hoyt he'd just avenged his mother (because then they'd have to explain why Violet killed her). Actually, killing Hoyt's horrible bigoted cripplingly-abusive mother (after, remember,
Maxine shot Jessica!) was the only good thing Violet ever did.
Tara's revelation was kind of disappointing. And retrospectively redeeming
Lettie Mae was positively offensive. We didn't see ANY good in her for seven seasons; this bit felt tacked on, and poorly.
