HBO's "True Blood" [merged]

And with tonight's episode, True Blood officially becomes the best show currently on TV.

It entertains on many different levels. Mostly, it's a metaphor for gay culture and how we've been opressed by religion and social "norms" over the years, but it's also a reflection of society in general. Of relationships and law enforcement and our sociiety's obsession over sports and the evils of drugs and the false promise of comforts offered by born again ministry's and their profit driven motives....

All under the guise of a show about "vampires"

God bless Alan Ball. This is the stuff of genius.

I swear I expected Jason and that other dude to fuckin kiss or some shit. Psh. Surprised there wasn't a long drawn out 2 minute scene with them wrestling... <yawn>

I complain too much though, cuz he's hot, and I shouldn't be.

Lafayette can't die, That would be horrible.
I hope he lives, even as a Vampire.
LOL Sookie getting told to shut up was hysterical.

I just hope to god, Bill doesn't have to kill the little girl or the mom, I won't lose sleep over it, but still. lol

Maryann in the bar was kinda awesome, i loved that scene.

Fat bitch eatin plates and plates of food, what's up with that?

I like how the girl in the store thought bill was gay. lolHe's just got a super hot girlfriend. lmao

and to top it off. Sookie boob sighting! 2 Times in 2 episodes :P

Isn't there the alternative that Lafayette will just be the guy they feed off of, their toy? Like that one guy in season one who had hepatitis B (I think), the disease that vampires are allergic to. Either way I hope he doesn't die.

LOL the ending was hilarious, seeing Bill lose his cool was awesome.

How fuckin creepy was it when Sookie tried to read Maryann's mind and heard that weird language? My only complaint about this season is the lack of Sookie mind reading. And how great was that performance of "Jesus asked me out today"?

lots of the boys with their shirts off this week ..|

I think the black guy who is seducing Tara is the hottest guy on the show period. Eric is pretty hot w/o that ridiculous hair.

I have a boner lasting more than 4 hours for Jason. What a perfect body! That scene with him in front of the mirror flossing was hot. Not an ounce of fat on that guy.

OMG it's sooo good this season, last season the pace of the show was too slow, now loads of things are happening one after the other! it's great!

P.S
Thank god they switched Taras, Rutina Wesley is soo much better.. not to mention she has ATTITUDE, which was severely lacking in Tara #1...

Last night's episode was so good i can not wait until nextweek's episode.

And how funny is it that Eric had foils in his hair ?

I guess after hundreds of years the color starts to fade... lol

good that i could resist so long NOT to look in this thread. finally saw the second episode, and it instantly became a favourite. the only critic I have is that the stupid jesus camp was just a bit tooooooo overdrawn. and I was so into the last scene, that i started cursing when the episode suddenly ended ;)

and since i am not that up to date with american pop culture that "silver ring" and then that "jesus wants to fuck me" band .. was that somehow aimed at disney? see "purity rings" and that girl from the band looked a bit like miley cyrus (or however you spell her).. (does she do songs like that, too .. eek)

I'm sure they were making some kind of side comment about 'purity rings' but the Silver was explicitly important, because in this Vampire series, silver harms Vampires

i think you're reaching here. it could be a metaphore for any group of oppressed people. or maybe it's not a metaphore for anything at all; it's just good, fun entertainment.

It could be read as a number of things, but I do remember reading something where Alan Ball said that the show isn't written using vampires as a metaphor for anything.

i tend to believe that more than anything else.

I refer you to the 'God Hates Fangs' sign in the opening credits...

Well I posted a few times in the thread. And then in this episode at the very beginning they showd how silver harms them. Oh and when she gave them the rings she said very un-suspiciously they are made of SILVERRR so that really everybody got it.
But my post was asking about something less obvious (at least for me). And no ... I wasn't offended :)

so i guess the scenes in the opening credits of the preacher "laying hands" on the people and "casting out" demons are really scenes of the preacher "casting out" their homosexuality. interesting.

i still think you're reaching.
