HBO's "True Blood" [merged]

I think the actor is hot when he isnt playing Bill.

They make the actor look way too pale in the show.
I saw him on the View and he was still not attractive and short. The only thing kinda hot was his accent. Even the View ladies seemed unimpressed. Usually when a hot guy comes on they Sherri soaks the couch but that looked totally not into him even though he was very pleasant and tried to turn on the charm.

Remember that when Gabe and Steve took Sookie and Hugo to the basement it was still the afternoon,so Godric was still sleeping.

No it wasn't. Watch the scene again, it's clearly night. Both Bill and Jessica had just awaken because of it.

Besides that, I find it hard to believe that a vampire hating church is going to give a vampire the accommodations it needs to rest to regain it's strength. Then again, it depends on how long they've actually had Godric 'prisoner'. He's been missing a while so if they didn't want him dead before the bonfire then I could see it.

That makes me think...If Jessica's room is right next to Bill's, can't she hear anything that's going on next door? Lorena and Bill weren't exactly quiet. Eric can hear Barry from across the hallway, so I figure Jessica (or even Hoyt) would have mentioned something. Maybe she just doesn't care?

Maybe she hasn't learned to use that skill yet?

I've been wondering the same thing myself. Why hasn't Jessica left her room in like two days? Even before Hoyt.

Listening to all this confusion makes me wanna not even attempt season 2. I wouldn't say I wasted time watching season 1 all day yesterday cause I had nothing better to do, lol. My car is in the shop. I just am not getting the hype of this show. There just was no OMG moment or I a moment I was riveted to my seat. There is nothing smart about the show. It's like back round noise. This is like when I watched season 1 of Dante's cove. I was curious about all the fuss but after I watched I kinda thought people who think this is good must not get out much. Buffy really does blow this out of the water. That show was written so well. I'm wondering if people who like this show had ever watched Buffy?

Comparing True Blood to Buffy is like comparing apples to oranges. They are completely different shows. I loved Buffy, and I love TB -- it never hit me that these 2 shows are anything like each other.

And reading these comments and not watching the show is confusing. If you actually watch season 2, it's really not that difficult to follow. But if you really hated season 1, I doubt you would even attempt season 2 (even though it's much stronger than the 1st).

I agree somewhat about it being apples and oranges. But both have a young blond girl who can do something no one else can who falls in love with a much older vampire. Both lost their virginity to the vampire and than the vampire seemed to go evil. Bill was just pretending to go bad to get the hive out of the bar. Angel went all evil. I guess that's why I keep bringing up the comparison. This is the clearance Joss Whedon show. I didn't hate the show. It just seems everyone understands what everyone else is up to and no one questions it and someone dies and still it's about sex. The writers use sex when they can't come up with anything interesting. I just expected spectacular and I get blah.

Buffy did not hit it's stride till season 2 or three---it is painful to go back and watch some of the first those episodes.

I think many of the characters on True blood have started out much stronger than the ones on Buffy did at the same point in the show's run. The storylines are better at least.

I agree that some of the extended flashback scenes played a bit like too much filller, but no matter... It ended with such a rush all was forgiven.

My favorite part of last night had nothing to do with the actual show. Moments after it ended, my phone rang. It was my Mom (who's also hooked) ranting, "I'm getting too old for this shit ! What the hell just happened with Eggs ? It's bad enough I have to watch a black-eyed orgy and now all of this crap ??!"

"You know you don't *have* to watch it, Mom..."

I felt the same way about the first season. There was nothing particularly exciting about it and nothing that made me want to really care about it. The only reason I tuned in each week was because the show really knows how to pull off cliffhangers.

However season 2 is actually much better all around. The characters aren't as connected as they were in the first season but they also aren't always around each other as well. They're all involved in their own things so it seems like there is a lot more going on.

Oh and the men. So many gorgeous men this season. Yum.

Actually, I own and have watched all seven seasons of Buffy multiple times... I still love the show, but it was much MUCH simpler than True Blood. This show keeps you guessing every minute, where as a major twist in Buffy happened quite maybe once an episode.

Don't get me wrong, I fucking LOVE Buffy, I still cry at times when I watch the episodes over, and I still get worked up over it, but THIS show is WAY more Multi-layered than Joss Wheadon could've ever kept up.

I wondered why Jessica hadn't left as well but then I just rationalized that the only reason she is in Dallas is because of Bill so what else does she have to do really? Bill probably told her not to leave her room as evidenced by her childish mild rebellion of pouring out the Tru Blood bottles.

Oh and they can't hear anything because when they checked into the hotel they were told the rooms were both double sound proof. How convenient :)

But remember a few episodes ago when Bill was glamoring the limo driver, and he screamed at Jessica from his room, and she screamed back "I'm on the phone!" Their doors were closed, but they could still hear each other.

Maybe it's just a continuity issue. Or maybe you're right -- maybe Bill told Jessica not to leave her room no matter what.

You're right, they have adjoining suites so it's definitely an oversight that she could be heard from hers then but not a word/sound can be heard from Bill and Lorena now.

I'd have to go back and re-watch Jessica and Bill's scenes, but it seems like Jessica or Bill are awake at different times. Definitely not the case I'm sure, it just seems like that.

Maybe I will give season 2 a chance than. I found a site that plays free movies and TV shows so that's how I saw season 1 yesterday. They also had season 2 up also. The site also had the new Harry Potter and a few movies that just came out last week! That makes me a little nervous to be on the site. They have everything on that site and I can't stop myself from watching. All the new Family guys are on there and I haven't seen them yet. I don't watch much TV so everything is new to me. It's not just new movies up but they have a lot of older movies also. So it's nothing for me to try and catch more True Blood.

I am with most of you who love this show.

First of all, how cute are Hoyt and Jessica, a 26 year old virgin who admits the only sex he has had was "with himself" How adorable and hot.
Oh baby, Godrec just drips with raw sexuality, I mean he is smokin.
I look forward to learning where he has ben and how he ended up in that church in the first place. I am sure we will learn it was a well played out move on his part. In the teaser for next week we saw Eric look lovingly into Godrics eyes and say "Godrick" like he was about to get down on his knees and blow him.
This is the first time we have ever seen Eric look so vulnerable, he is just a bowl of jello when he is around Godrick. Man love between them? probably not, but it sure is nice to fantasize about the two of them going at it. Oh My
I am trying not to get fed up with Maryann, I know she is an important piece two all this but she is wearing out my patience.

Love reading the comments here guys, It helps to get through the week till the next show. ;)

Actually yes... there was man love between Eric and his maker (all that in the 9th book of the series).

The show has merged two characters in the books into one in the show: Godric and Eric's maker. In the books Godric is nothing but a rogue vamp who wants to die (and does, in book 2) but he's not Eric's maker.

Eric's maker was an ancient Roman vampire who was *drumroll please* gay (he's only mentioned in book 9, when Eric tells his story to Sookie). Eric also tells Sookie that there was man love between him and his maker. Eric was not gay, but once converted, he seemed to not mind man love and actually enjoyed it.

So, in the series they have made Godric Eric's maker. So there's a good chance they may have kept the gay part in this character.

Thanks for that. It gives me somehing more to look forward to. ;)
The Vampire charactors are written to show their superior strength and intellegence. that very intelligence would lend it self to a far more understanding and appreciation of man-on-man love.

I'm thinking they have probably spent centuries together and Eric probably trusts no one more than Godric. Godric probably taught him everything, and shared valuable stuff with Eric.

Imagine.

Wow, thank you for that info. This is all so interesting.

It makes me want to pay my late fees to the library to rent out all these books. I'ma have to go tomorrow.
