HBO's "True Blood" [merged]

She's a Mary Sue. It comes with the territory.

Would you care to explain why you think she's a Mary Sue? I'm not doubting you, I promise. (*8*)

I just see her being attractive to men the same as Jason: the fae in her makes her desirable to human men, in the same way women find Jason irresistible.

Do they have a name for the light she can form in her hands? I haven't read the books.

Any True Blood episode when Tommy Mickens (Marshall Allman) is butt naked and showing that great bubble butt is a good episode to me LOL!!!

I Love the Method Shapeshifting with Marshall Allman Video…That dude can Butt Hump:sex: Me anyday!!!

No, it's all good.

The definition of a Mary Sue is obviously very subjective.

In my opinion, I believe that Sookie can be considered a Mary-Sue because she lacks any significant/notable character flaws or failures...or rather, her character flaws are never acknowledge or addressed (because they aren't meant to be there intentionally).

She's presented as an idealized ~sexy but pure and righteous~ young woman with lots of charm, she is happy-go-lucky despite her sad childhood. She has all the hot boys fighting over her, she is soooo mysteriously irresistible. And for some reason she constantly has the attention and love of almost everyone around her, they are always available to lend her a hand, they are loyal to her, they are fretting about her. And she is always figuring out ways to outsmart everyone, how very competent of her. Oh, look, and she even has cool super powers, too. But don't forget, she's just a regular girl, a mere waitress. Sookie, she's just like us! Oh my. Brb, vomiting.

It's just a bit much for me. I know she's supposed to be the central character, our identification point, but it's like...the story is always [strike]beating us over the head with[/strike] trying to convince us of her awesomeness and her importance but I have yet to see what is exactly so great about her. When you combine that with Sookie's self-righteousness, it get's to be tiring for me. Tbh, I find the characters around her more intriguing and many of them have garnered my admiration and sympathy a lot more than she has because they're more balanced and thus easier to relate to. Yes, even freaky-ass supernatural creatures have been more relatable to me than Sookie.

Just sayin.'

/TL;DR RANT OVER

Thanks for that! ..| I definitely agree on all counts except her irresistible nature to everyone, which although I do believe falls under "Mary Sue", I'm personally okay with that aspect because we're led to believe fae/faeries have this trait anyway.

I won't lie that Sookie pisses me off some times. Last season Tara went through a lot of shit, but it was always "Sookie, Sookie, Sookie." What a terrible friend.

Your "rant" was appreciated. :=D:

EXACTLY! "Oh, Tara was raped mercilessly and almost turned into a vampire she, but look SOOKIE LOST AN EARRING! Poor poor Sookie."

I do like Sookie though, but i think that's mostly because she was Rogue in the first X-men movie.

The reason the vampires don't jump Sookie and drain her is that she's not a full Fairy. In the books, her Godmother (and I believe Godfather) have a normal life in town (I believe Tara ends up working for her) and whenever the Godmother gets around a vampire, there's a huge difference the way they act around her rather than Sookie (they don't hit on Godmother, they just attempt to eat her). The idea is, the Fairies were so desirable that the vampires couldn't control themselves around them, pretty much wiping them out of existence.

Don't forget the doll they showed on the floor of Hoyt and Jessica's new house at the end of the last season. (complete with ominous music ;) )

Remember that... oh hell, what's her name - the girl that Hoyt's Mom was trying to hook him up with - was really into doll collecting and asked Hoyt to keep an eye on them at all time....

I'm guessing that doll has a curse on it (bringing in the new witch sub-plot) that is going to keep the two of them arguing and Jessica out at Fangtasia looking for some, um, fresh blood to suck.

Just a theory.

um, kind of a meh episode but...

1) Crystal The Rapist is seriously freaking me out. Omg. Poor Jason's screaming. What kind of fuckery is this subplot!! *shudder*

2) This episode made me want Tara and Sam to get back together. I don't remember them having that much chemistry before. <3

3) I loved Pam in this episode. "I will personally eat, fuck and kill all three of you." Wtf.

4) As for Eric's amnesia, I still don't understand the severity of it. Or why it's making him act like an entirely different person. Amnesia makes you sweet-natured? What? I don't even know. Amnesia does not effect a person's personality. His acting childlike & sweet is kind of silly, tbh.
1.OMG Those hillbillies r so gross. It is almost unbearable to watch. I feel so bad for Jason but it's a little misery-ish.

2.Tara and Sam were so hot together! Something tells me Tara is gonna forget about that lil gf of hers real soon.

3. Pam's one-liners get better and better.

4. I think we see Eric is still bad when he killed poor Claudine. I actually felt bad for. Her dying lying that was just so senseless.

I'm glad Tommy's little scam wasnt dragged out and he told Sam right away. BTW has Tommy ass always looked that great in jeans?

Amnesiac Eric is absolutely adorable. The scene where Sookie warns him not to tread mud on the rug, so he edges his way around it, had me in stitches.

I wanna see crystal's boyfriend fuck Jason. Why not? If they can write werepanthers into the script they can write biwerepanthers in there too.

I liked Bill as an 80's punk, and wondering again about his vampire "connections."

but the acting honor's go to Skarsgard - his "innocent" Eric was awesome

kinda tired of the panther people, though
